We are seeking a Project Designer to join our dynamic team of design professionals that have a passion for aviation, customer service and airport facility design. In this role you will develop design solutions for a variety of projects and coordinate the design through all project phases - conceptual design through project opening. Your role will include establishing the overall design direction, developing architectural design concepts, participating in client presentations, collaborating with others through internal design workshops, and preparing documents during the project's design development through construction phases to ensure that the design vision is executed.

You will work within a multi-disciplinary team setting, developing creative design solutions that meet the client's criteria, serving as a resource to the Senior Project Designer, project architect and project manager as the design is developed. You will assist in the development of the entire design concept, leading the development of 2D and 3D graphics, presentations, and other collateral to convey design ideas to the client and project team.

You will have opportunities to support business development/marketing activities, participating in interview strategy sessions and assisting in the development of design concepts and winning presentations.

Responsible for interpreting client goals and program requirements needed to establish design goals and parameters for small to medium sized project assignments, and be available to work under the supervision of a Sr. Project Designer on large projects. Serves as a resource to the project architect and project manager as the design is developed. Responsible for communication of design concepts to client and project teams.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Plans and develops architectural designs for aviation projects.

  • Determines the project goals of the client through direct client contact and team communication.

  • Develops design concepts and leads development of design documents during early phases of project

  • development. Project will vary in scale and include many, large scale projects of national public significance.

  • Collaborates with diverse project teams to implement and execute design intent.

  • Collaborates with Project Manager(s) and Sr. Project Architect(s) to ensure project is on schedule, on budget, reflects the latest industry trends, and meets all project business objectives.

  • Engages the entire project team in design charrettes and workshops during the project, fostering a collaborative and interactive charrette team relationship.

  • Coordinates the quality of design product throughout the project process.

  • Prepares client presentations and presents design concepts.

  • Supports the marketing and business development initiatives of the office on project pursuits and may have active participation in strategy sessions, visioning workshops, and interviews.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Prior experience in aviation facility design is preferred

  • Registered Architect

  • Sustainability credentials strongly preferred

  • Displays a high level of professionalism

  • Proficiency in architectural software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, and Grasshoper a plus

  • Experience with Adobe Suite products, SketchUp, InDesign, and rendering software such as 3D Studio Max, Lumion, etc is a plus

  • Prociency in MS Ofce Suite preferred

  • Able to provide technical guidance and creative solutions to resolve complex project design challenges.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provides interpretation of client's goals and programs. Prepares design concepts consistent with client's goals, budget and schedule.

  • Works closely with the project architect and project manager in planning and implementing all work processes in consideration of budgets and schedules. Work includes preparing work plans, estimating hours to complete tasks, developing project reports, managing consultant team members (including coordination and incorporation of all work products) and reviewing invoices.

  • May work in conjunction with Sr. Project Designer as a part of the design team on larger projects.

  • Presents design concepts to clients and team members.

  • Serves as a subject matter expert on architectural projects of small to medium size and assists on larger projects.

  • Integrates quality control measures during all phases of design.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, or Interior Design

  • 5 years related experience
