Job Description

The city administrator position is being filled for the City of Houston, MO. Qualified candidates should possess a bachelors degree in public administration or related field; at least three to five years preferred municipal management experience. Private sector experience will also be considered. A strong background is desired in budget development/governmental/accounting/ finance, human resources management, organizational leadership skills and the ability to cultivate positive and productive relationships with the mayor, board of aldermen, staff and community members.The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of integrity, strong work ethic (commitment to public service), team building abilities in addressing community issues/problems, open and positive communication skills and visionary leadership. Salary $65,000 - $75,000 plus benefits, depending on qualifications. The mayor and six board members are elected on a non-partisan basis and serve two-year terms. $10,000,000 average total budget including general fund, capital, water, utility and sewer. There are 35 full-time and eight part-time employees.
