As an organization, we are leaders in excellence, we have a steadfast commitment to solutions, we respect all differences, abilities, and similarities in our employees and clients, and we advocate autonomy!A Direct Support Professional (DSP) assists the Program Supervisor, Scheduling Coordinator, and other direct care staff in implementing programs in community settings for individuals served by performing the following duties.Assists individuals served in achieving their goals.Learns the personalities, habits, routines, and unique communication styles of individuals served and works with them accordingly.Provides encouragement and support to individuals served so they can achieve their desired objectives.Teaches, supports, and models appropriate social skills when working with individuals served and helps individuals served make healthy and safe choices.Encourages and empowers individuals served to express their wants, needs, and individual preferences.Provides training to individual served as outlined in the Individual Support Plan (ISP).Completes training as stated by CHS policy HRD-P-022 Training.Responsible for promoting a positive Safety Culture is expected and necessary to make CHS a safe place in which to work. Safe work practices and policies for this position shall be reviewed and strictly followed.Monitors and assists with daily living activities of individuals served.Administers prescriptions and PRN medication as stated on the physicians orders.Administers medication within the guidelines of being certified in Level I Medication Aide.Responsible for being aware of medication side effects and adverse reactions. Monitors individuals served for such side effects and reactions.Provides opportunities for community recreational activities.Assists the program individual by helping build community relationships that will improve the quality of life and enhance the experience of community. Events and activities should focus on the individuals served likes and interests.Assures the safety and well-being of individuals served and co-workers by following CHS policies and obtaining or administering appropriate medical treatment as needed.Assists and/or provides appropriate personal care as needed.Responsible for following the guidelines set forth in the Financial Procedures and directions given by the Lead Staff while handling money for individuals served and grocery/household money.QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or general education degree (GED)Must have a valid drivers license at the time of application and obtain a Class E Chauffeurs License within 30 days of hire.Must have drivers insurance and if the name does not appear on your drivers insurance, you must provide the proper documentation, or letter, as proof of insurance.Must obtain and maintain certifications as listed for this position in HRD-P-022 - Training.Must be screened for TB by Primary Care Physician prior to start.OPENING DATE: August 8, 2022CLOSING DATE: Until FilledSHIFTS: FT (40 hrs.)
