Job Description:
L3Harris Technologies, Inc. is seeking a full-time Lead EHS Specialist to join our team as a designated safety representative for the Space and Airborne Communications sector. The Lead EHS Specialist promotes a positive safety culture while coordinating and implementing all areas of company safety programs as directed by the Safety Manager. This includes conducting trainings and coaching employees on observed work habits.
The Lead EHS Specialist is required to maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly metrics to report to onsite management teams. The Lead EHS Specialist is responsible for recommending appropriate risk mitigation measures to management, including process safety improvements, and tracking all associates actions through to completion. The Lead EHS Specialist also conducts risk assessments related to jobs performed (Job Hazard Analysis), new equipment installations, and construction activities.
Essential Functions:
Identify and inform site leadership of compliance issues, safety risks, and improvement opportunities through the conduct of daily, weekly, and monthly standard work
Facilitate an accurate and timely incident investigation process
Maintain required documentation based on company policies
Enter Safety Incident Information in internal database in a timely manner
Perform safety observations & safety audits
Train and assist others (Managers, safety team members, etc.) to complete their safety responsibilities (Audits, Follow Safety Rules, etc.)
Perform specific safety training as required by the Safety Manager
May have additional responsibility for fire prevention, hazardous waste management, or other safety related activities depending on the business unit and location
Participate in process improvement activities and manage actions to completion
Ability to communicate health and safety needs to all levels of the organization
Calm demeanor in emergency situations
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience
Knowledge of Federal & State EHS regulations
Knowledge of voluntary Health & Safety standards
Proficiency with MS Office programs
Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment, and customer focus skills
Ability to analyze incident data, new processes, and machinery for potential safety concerns and conduct job hazard and job safety analyses
Experienced in emergency response and currently holds First aid and CPR certificates
Experience in incident classification case management
Passion for safety
Preferred Additional Skills:
Be capable of obtaining a clearance after hire
