The Quality Engineer position provides daily tactical communication and recommendations to management, staff, and formulators to enhance product quality and improve process control. The Quality Engineer maintains procedural and production documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate standards and utilizes lab equipment to perform inspections on incoming raw materials, in-process materials, and finished goods to ensure compliance with product quality standards. The Quality Engineer also conducts Internal and Process audits as necessary and leads root cause and corrective/preventative action activities when needed.
. Document and maintain lab testing procedures, manufacturing work instructions, and detailed product inspection records.
. Analyze production and inspection data to identify trends, produce product and process reports, and generate finished good product certifications.
. Lead root cause and corrective/preventative action activities as they relate to batch failures, product complaints, and continual improvement initiatives.
. Make minor adjustments to correct out-of-specification batches. Coordinate with chemists on larger or novel batch adjustments.
. Manage storage and disposition of hazardous waste generated in the facility.
. Maintain calibration system and perform internal calibrations as required.
. Promote, support, and adhere to all safety, environmental, and quality related policies and procedures in the facility.
. Collaborate with R&D chemists on new product development and offset raw material considerations.
. Maintain a clean, orderly lab utilizing 5S principles.
. Conduct Internal and Process Audits as needed.
. Develop a detailed understanding of the facility's manufacturing environment and ERP system.
. Bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering or related. Recent college graduate, with internships in quality control testing or equivalent lab experience.
. Understanding of basic mathematical operations and quality problem solving tools.
. Ability to work and make decisions both independently and collaboratively.
. Proficiency with MS Office and ability to enter inspection data into a collection database.
. Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and investigative skills.
. Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 standard.
. Hands-on experience in QC testing of coating or adhesive formulations is highly preferred.
. Proficiency in statistical analysis and tools is a plus.
