Summary

This position proactively supports the US Navy Commander Naval Air Force Atlantic (CNAL) Habitability Program, Enhanced Quality of Life (EQOL) Project, for shipboard food service, galley, galley refrigeration, and laundry equipment by providing technical guidance, maintenance, material, and training support. The EQOL team duties include but are not limited to providing material and equipment necessary to conduct "Hands-On" maintenance and repairs while training and mentoring both coworkers and ships force personnel in techniques and processes used to assess, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and operate systems and equipment.

The CNAL EQOL Team is a small team of diverse trade skill sets and experience. Our primary overall team goal is to train ships force how to do their jobs and become self-sufficient. This is done by mentoring through four basic learning techniques, Read/Listen/See/Do, using a "Find/Fix/Train" methodology. All team members have primary and secondary skills and/or focus and are routinely required to learn and work outside them as needed. We highly encourage our team members to expand their horizons beyond existing specialties. To us the only practical differences in our people are what they know, can, and are willing to learn to do.

What you will do

  • Perform purchasing processes using the Navy Stock system to include but not limited to: obtaining government approval to purchase, entering ordering & receipt data into government databases, and electronically receiving/transmitting purchase and update data files.

  • Perform government customer open puchase processes to include but not limited to electronically: obtaining quotes, completing government purchase orders (POs), routing POs with supporting documents for approval, delivering approved POs to vendors/OEMs, and assisting government purchase (credit) card holders with maintaining expendature accounting and record keeping.

  • Perform a combination of manual and clerical processes, shipping and/or receiving duties which may require the use of hand trucks, forklifts, and other devices, as well as computers to maintain inventory data.

  • Receives incoming materials and prepares materials for shipment and issue as needed.

  • Verifies quantity, weight, and conformance of materials; prepares records of materials shipped and bills of lading; routes and delivers materials to destinations.

  • May lay out, fabricate, and assemble nonstandard shipping crates and boxes, and prepare parts and tooling for special shipment.

  • Deliver materials, parts, tools, and equipment to work sites using various company and customer provided vehicles.

What you must have

  • DoD confidential clearance.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years of additional education and/or relevant progressive experience.

  • US Citizenship.

  • Ability to qualify for and maintain a company forklift operator license through employment.

  • Valid state driver license for passenger vehicles and light to heavy duty trucks.

  • Experience reading and interpreting complex blueprints and technical drawings, manuals, and publications.

  • Advanced experience using computer-based email, word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, and drafting programs to including their web-based apps.

  • Experience reporting material availability, purchase process status, delivery status, team needs, and inventory status, plans, and goals to senior management, ships force, and type commander command level personnel or equivalent.

  • Experience with federal stock system documentation, forms, logistics and purchasing processes or equivalent.

  • Maintenance person and management level experience with Navy 3-M, COSAL systems processes, procedures, data, and documentation.

  • Experience with US Navy Aircraft Carrier Galley and Laundry equipment and systems.

  • Experience with CNAL 'SLIMP' database software and use.

  • Experience with CNAL Purchase Order (PO) process and use.

  • Experience with CNAL Government Purchase Card (GPC) management, audit, processes, and use.

  • Experience with Navy workflow screening, authorization, and completion processes.

  • Experience with Navy shipboard equipment configuration control database information, logistics, and COSAL..

  • Experience using Federal supply system databases and related software management systems such as OneTouch, FedLog, Haystack, etc... or equivalents.

  • Experience training and mentoring coworker and customer personnel in processes and procedures used.

Physical Requirements

Minimal mobility, dexterity, or coordination required to operate common business machines. Maximum lifting required is approximately 40 pounds from floor to three feet in height.
