The Role

Sets up cost control system, monitors and controls costs and schedules on contracts requiring validated cost schedule control system. Performs analyses and prepares reports in order to ensure that contracts are within negotiated and agreed-upon parameters and government cost control guidelines. Prepares budgets and schedules for contract work and performs and/or assists in financial analyses such as funding profiles, sales outlook, and variance analysis. Prepares program plans to ensure program requirements and statement of work are captured and scheduled. Performs schedule risk assessments to identify and mitigate program cost and scheduling risks. Ensures adequate funding availability by maintaining accurate records of expenditures, directing preparation of expenditure projections, and submitting timely requests for additional funding to the government. Incorporates contractual changes into control systems by staying aware of outstanding work against each contract in order to maintain realistic contract cost and schedule baselines.

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of relevant exempt experience; Master's Degree and 4 year of relevant professional experience

One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:

  • NNS Apprentice School graduate

  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate

Designs, develops, and tests nuclear equipment and systems. Conducts research on new materials of special interest in nuclear reactors. Conducts studies related to the detection and control of radiation and radioactive contaminants. Studies nuclear fuel cycle to define most economical uses of material and safest means of waste products disposal. Other areas of research include radiation transport modeling, statistical analyses and performance metrics. Recommends various technology options or approaches for system, processes, facility or program improvements in terms of safety, performance, efficiency or costs.

This position is part of the Newport News Shipbuilding Radiological Controls Engineering group, responsible for providing engineering support to service Navy nuclear aircraft carriers and submarines. The Role

Coordinate and supervise all aspects of the construction process for AOR including defining the project scope, goals and deliverables that support build strategy and key event schedule. Manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders to ensure quality and safety standards are met and that work is being performed as scheduled within contract specifications. Identify and expedite the resolution of design, material, grouping, scheduling, manpower, or other problems that could risk accomplishment of critical path work. Liaise with trades' management to control cost performance within AOR, to include determination of overtime requirements and identification/management of cost drivers. Assess all growth work and/or contract funded point changes are evaluated to ensure funding is authorized and work is integrated and achievable within schedule. Identify impact and potential risks and devise contingency plans. Perform inspections including, but not limited to, preliminary structural inspections, tank/void inspections, yard final inspections, inspection to support release of concealing materials, compartment and system turnover inspections and test inspections. Document discrepancies and issue to responsible party for corrections. Assess safety risks within AOR and develop mitigations plans as appropriate.

Construction Supervisor will support CVN 80/81 Unit Assembly area.

Must Have

2 years Foreman experience OR Apprentice Graduate OR

Military Navy E-6 and above OR

BS in Engineering Or Construction/Project Management OR

The Role

Performs surveillance of radiological work areas to detect and document the level and type of ionizing radiation/radioactivity in accordance with radiological control regulations. Performs and documents air, water, solid and surface radioactivity/radiation surveys using instruments designed to detect type and level of activity. Determines usage and maintenance of nuclear containment apparatus. Responds to radiological incidents to ensure employee and environmental safety.

The Role

HII (Huntington Ingalls Industries) seeks an experienced and dynamic attorney to act as Director and Assistant General Counsel at its Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) Division in Newport News, Virginia.

The selected attorney will have overall responsibility, accountability, and authority for legal matters regarding negotiation, administration, and compliance across NNS's portfolio of government contracts. This position will report directly to the Vice President and Chief Counsel of NNS.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Provide legal expertise, business counsel, and training to NNS's Contracts and Pricing and Business Management organizations on all aspects of government contracting including fiscal law, changes, data rights, nuclear indemnity, cost and pricing issues, false claims, cost accounting standards, and the nuances of sole source contracting.

  • Provide business-centric counsel to a broad group of business partners. Train, mentor, and partner with colleagues and clients across the business, at all levels of expertise.

  • Build a broad and deep understanding of significant legal considerations and seamlessly integrate practical business advice into legal counsel with an emphasis on positioning the business to avoid potential problems in addition to meeting day-to-day challenges.

  • Provide strategic and day-to-day legal and business counsel to NNS's Submarine leadership team, including the Vice President level.

  • Provide primary counsel and review of unique terms and conditions for commercial Supply Chain contracting. Advise both entry-level buyers and senior experts on emergent supply chain issues such as cybersecurity, supplier quality, warranty, delay, prime contract flow down requirements, and other contract enforcement matters.

  • Draft, review, and advise on teaming agreements, letters of intent, memorandums of understanding, non-disclosure agreements, and similar agreements adjacent to, but outside of, the traditional instruments of government contracting and standard supplier terms and conditions.

  • Provide assistance with other significant NNS matters and assume additional law department responsibilities as needed; additional duties may include advising functions such as operations, facilities, intellectual property, or ethics.

Job Description

Supervises, assigns, coordinates and evaluates semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel according to their skill, experience and job knowledge. Supervises and trains employees to improve quality and quantity of work performed. Recommends training to enhance skill and productivity of employees, and assists in development of training procedures. Breaks broad strategies down to practical action plans and ensures employees are trained to perform these plans. The Role

Plans, prepares, issues and controls production schedules and coordinates with material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements. The Role

Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. The Role

The Role

With multiple positions available, these roles will directly support Newport News Shipbuilding's Vice President of Contracts & Pricing Division and will oversee a team of professionals in the creation, execution, and analysis of contracts within an organization.

Job Description

An Ingalls Pipefitter, also referred to as a Journeyman Pipefitter, is responsible for fitting pipe consisting of various materials such as steel, galvanized, copper, copper-nickel and stainless along with the appropriate valves and fittings, utilizing various tools and equipment in accordance with drawing, arrangements and blue prints. Ingalls shipyard production areas at times involve working at different heights, confined spaces, different weather conditions as well as multiple shifts 24 hours a day. As with most every position in the shipyard, a Pipefitter may be required to work either day or night dependent upon the number of ships under construction at any one point in time. Ingalls stresses the practice of working safely in all situations with safety procedures meeting, and most times, exceeding industry standards.

The Role

Quality Inspector Apprentices complete an 8000-hr. program. Quality Inspector Apprentices learn to use predetermined methods, operations, setups and prescribed specifications to inspect visually in-process and completed products such as structural units, subassemblies, structural flaws, internal defects, and missing welds. Quality Inspector Apprentices also use various measuring devices. Quality Inspector Apprentices work from blueprints, diagrams, scales, fixtures, customer specifications, drawing or inspection instructions and checklists. Quality Inspector Apprentices may also monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

The Role

Carpenter apprentices complete a 6000-hr. program. Carpenter apprentices are responsible for laying out, erecting and dismantling multiple types of temporary scaffolding. Carpenters apprentices are also responsible for installing ship board deck sockets, incline ladders, hand grabs, station stowage's, sound dampening tile, peel-n-stick non-skid and various other permeant ship attachments. Carpenter apprentices must be able to operate and use numerous types of hand tools and measuring devices related to scaffold erection and permeant work. Carpenter apprentices must be comfortable working at various heights and in various weather conditions.

Pipe insulator apprentices are exposed to the different types of insulation used in naval shipbuilding including metal lagging, hull, and pipe insulation. Pipe Insulator apprentices are responsible for installing insulation on various critical piping systems, ventilation/HVAC duct, intake and exhaust piping, machinery, tanks, and bulkheads. They are also responsible interpreting marine blueprints for installing various types of insulation using correct measurements, layout, cutting and proper sealing techniques with a high degree of craftmanship to not only ensure the systems perform as designed, but also meet aesthetic standards.

The Role

Rigger apprentices will complete an 8000 hr program designed to give them maximum exposure to all Rigging functions and techniques utilized at Ingalls Shipbuilding. The apprentice will receive special training in various areas to learn fundamental skills and techniques. During the four year program, the apprentices will learn how to read blueprints, calculate lifting capacities, fabricate wire chokers, initiate crane hand signals, and various other Rigging functions. The apprentices will receive their On the Job Training through a series of rotations. The rotation areas that each rigging apprentice will be exposed to are: marine rigging, hand rigging, gantry rigging, and transportation rigging. As experience and knowledge are gained, the apprentices will aid in training new apprentices during their OJT rotations.

The Role

The HII Corporate Director of Enterprise Technology Services will lead the operations of foundational technology services shared across the enterprise. Enlighten is looking for a Systems/Business Analyst to directly support the full spectrum of Product Management operations. The candidate will also help provide some project management, requirements analysis, and systems engineering support to ensure the customer experience is a success from start to finish. Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Develop key customer relationships and an unparalleled knowledge of their capabilities and operational needs

  • Provide analysis support to identify, define, interpret, and clarify scope and requirements in terms of systems and business processes.

  • Elicit and document requirements using interviews of end-user teams and operational business personnel, document analysis (technical systems documentation and user documents), surveys, use cases, workshops, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis.

  • Develop a solid understanding of the Big Data Platform (BDP) technologies as well as our DCSA-developed applications; champion them accordingly

  • Align customer operational needs and requirements with potential solutions which provide our clients with a high value and can be delivered via the BDP.

  • Ability to demo incremental progress of developmental efforts to the full range of stakeholders

  • Work closely with company development and engineer teams to ensure delivery dates align with customer targets and timelines.

  • Assist Product Managers in developing and implementing operational roadmaps and action plans for identified targets of opportunity.

  • Assist Product Managers in successfully transitioning new updates, features or capabilities into customer operations

  • Additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Security Clearance - Must have a current Top Secret level security clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.

  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.

  • 5 years of experience supporting complex technical projects and or programs within the Department of Defense (DOD) or Intelligence Communities (IC).

  • Understanding of requirements engineering in Agile methodologies.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong understanding of tools like MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.

  • Strong customer interaction/service skills, interpersonal skills and the ability to speak in a public forum.

  • Excellent communication and interviewing skills including active listening and empathy.

  • Excellent organizational and attention to detail skills; ability to interact effectively with others.

  • Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.

  • Ability to work hybrid schedule with some onsite support in Columbia, MD and Hanover, MD.

Preferred Requirements

  • Adequate experience to determine system requirements and work closely with engineering and management to ensure accurate design and estimating.

  • Experience in DoD Personnel Vetting (PV), DoD Critical Technology Protection (CTP), DoD cyber, agile development, and/or big data.

  • Experience with Software Engineering, Cloud Technologies.

  • Previous experience with BDP.

HII Mission Technologies (HII MT) is seeking talented engineers who are excited to work in a flipped engineering environment. Our team in Roanoke, VA specializes in reverse engineering and microelectronics trust and assurance.

Candidates for this position will lead a team performing reverse engineering tasks on existing products and encoding discoveries directly into our codebase. Additional tasks involve the research, design, and development of innovative algorithms to automate challenging or time-consuming tasks within the reverse engineering domain. Candidates will be exposed to and become proficient with a variety of technologies involving hardware description languages, embedded instruction architectures, high-level software development languages, formal verification tools, and more.

The ideal candidate will have experience with object-oriented design and an understanding of basic logic gates. We are particularly looking for candidates that have experience with FPGA design (Quartus, Vivado, ISE), embedded system design, EDA tools (synthesis, P&R, simulation), and/or microcontrollers. Experience with software reverse engineering is also valued in this position.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Candidates for this position will be responsible for leading reverse engineering efforts into systems of interest and mentoring junior engineers in the reverse engineering and development processes. Candidates will be expected to communicate clearly and effectively and demonstrate the ability to architect maintainable solutions to complex problems. Effective collaboration with teammates on the development of new ideas and accepting constructive feedback through the code review process is required. Candidates may also be expected to implement algorithms created by hardware engineers or from academic sources with limited documentation. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and be willing and able to obtain a DoD security clearance (if not already cleared).
