Job Description:
Remote field technician for L3Harris (Field Services Division) supporting multiple programs/systems for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) who can perform installation and maintenance on a variety of Networking and Telecommunication equipment at customer locations.
The position requires daily commuting to and from customer remote locations (indoor & outdoor) within your assigned area. Remote field technicians must be able to work independently with little supervision and possess good written/verbale communication skills.
Essential Functions:
Provide technical support for each specific program/system (FTI, MS, ADS-B, DCNS, WMSS and others) L3Harris supports for the FAA.
Install, repair, configure, test and complete preventative maintenance on a variety of equipment at the customers remote locations.
Able to work remotely in a scheduled and on-call capacity to various customer locations within your assigned area. Occasionally travel to remote sites outside your assigned area may be needed from time to time to assist with the FAA customer needs and/or request.
Able to read/understand/follow equipment drawings and task orders.
Possess good admin skills (taking notes and documenting what transpired while working at the customer location).
Work directly with the NOCC, the SAC, and the Helpdesk over the phone on resolving issues in the field.
Maintain tools, test equipment, parts/electronics, truck stock inventory and personal or company vehicle.
Be proactive and prepared for assigned tasks prior to dispatching.
Able to work outside regularly scheduled hours (on-call) when/if needed to meet customer's needs.
Lift items up to 32 lbs. and use ladders and step stools to reach heights of approximately 10ft.
Work with your supervisor (ASL) to ensure all L3Harris policies/procedures and program specific policies/procedures are followed.
Obtain and maintain a DOT Public Trust Security Clearance and a DOD Secret Clearance.
Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License and/or local US State REAL ID equivalent and a satisfactory driving record.
Qualifications:
High School Degree and 6 years of working experience specific to the telecom field or 2 years post-Secondary/ Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years' experience including supervisory experience.
5+ years of experience working with fiber, Carrier Ethernet, Multiplexes, DACS, Routers/Switches, Network topology, Frame Relay, Fractional T-1, SONET Network Technology, ATM, Private Line, Voice, and Data applications.
Experience with cable connectors and replacement including RJ-11, RJ-45, DB-25, V.35, RS-449, BNC and 50 pin Amphenol.
Working knowledge of power testing (AC and DC). Familiar with configuration and operation of the 24VDC & 48 VDC power supplies (rectifier's & fuse panels), backup power supplies (UPS's) and site grounding (single & multiple point).
Experience with logging into network equipment and circuit testing using a verity of different test equipment/laptop.
Bell Core Standards (Analog 4wire & 2 wire testing)
(Digital DSX1/T1 testing)
(Digital DSX3/T3 testing)
(Digital Serial RS232/RS530 testing)
(Carrier Ethernet RFC testing)
(IP interface testing)
Working knowledge and usage of multiple test equipment: Viavi 5800, JDSU HST3000, DataScout, Ameritech AM5XT, Digital Oscilloscope, Halcyon 704A, Anritsu Spectrum Analyzer and other T1/DS3 Test sets.
Experience with performing Preventive Maintanence and Corrective Maintanence on back-up generators.
Experience with Microsoft and the components of the MS Office Suite.
Ability to obtain a clearance prior to start date.

Experience with working remotely with Network Operation Control Centers.
Experience with interfacing/communication directly with customer.

Ability to work independently with little oversight.
Ability to support customer needs after-hours (on-call).
