PenFed is hiring a Senior Business Process Engineer at our McLean, Virginia location. The primary purpose of this position is to document business processes as well as redesign, re-engineer, and implement new solutions to align with the regulatory compliance, risk management and operational effectiveness strategy. This position will support the business using Lean and Six Sigma process engineering principles to design and/or optimize business processes and improve their overall execution and performance.

Organizes, leads, and facilitates cross-LOB, process design and re-engineering initiatives that will encompass an end to end analysis and future state redesign that requires specialized knowledge or skill critical to the redesign effort in a matrix leadership environment.
Develops improvement approaches within businesses and across lines of businesses that are holistic, customer focused to understanding business processes and workflow.
Identifies and helps to prioritize new initiatives to drive business strategy, mitigate potential risks and control gaps, financial return, and/or positive member impact.
Establishes standards for measuring performance against process requirements.
Provides advanced statistical analysis for business leaders, project teams, and managers as required.
Conducts in-depth evaluation of business processes, system processes, and industry standards.
Ensures essential procedures are followed and helps to define operating standards and processes.
Train and mentor existing and new employees/contractors on business process improvement.
Qualifications
Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.
Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related field is required.
Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience with industry methods for process improvement, organizational design, organizational change management, or performance optimization.
Minimum of five (5) years' experience with the facilitation of process improvement or business and organizational transformation workshops, sessions, or off-sites, including facilitation with senior and executive leaders.
Extensive experience with MS Visio or like technology is required
Experience with financial services operations (products, services, collections, branch and/or service center operations, etc.) or other bank product lines are preferred.
Familiarity with operating regulations including but not limited to Reg CC, DD, E, and Z, BSA, CIP, and UDAAP, is preferred.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools is preferred.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills with the ability to manage or lead multiple projects effectively.
Understanding and application of process management standards and policies, and knowledge of applicable regulations and risk management practices.
Demonstrated analytical skills with follow-up and problem-solving capability, lateral thinking.
Ability to analyze a process and recommend ways to improve quality, controls, and efficiency.

Licenses and Certifications
Certification in Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt Certification required.
Certifications in project management, business process modeling nation, risk management, and/or auditing are helpful.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.
Travel
Travel to various worksites is required.
