Brooks Instrument, a global manufacturer of flow and pressure measurement and control products for critical applications, and a division of ITW (A Fortune 200 Company) is seeking candidates for an on-site Electrical / PCB Design Engineer . This position will be based out of our headquarters location at Hatfield, PA (Suburban Philadelphia). Brooks maintains manufacturing, sales, and service center facilities around the world, and our products are used in laboratory and process applications in end markets such as: life sciences, petro-chemicals, semiconductor, analytical instrumentation, nuclear, and solar cells.
Basic Function
Support the Electrical Engineering team in the areas of board layout, Ecad library management, circuit board prototyping and debug and test support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for PCB layout, working closely with the EE team.
Function as Component Librarian for electronic CAD library, including creation of symbols, footprints, and integration of 3D models.
Maintain, research and add components to Silicon Expert and PDXpert databases.
Generate PCBA fabrication and assembly documentation for prototype builds and production release.
Work with quick-turn suppliers for ordering prototype PCBAs and assemblies.
Support or create drawing documentation for electromechanical assemblies and custom components.
Assist in prototype board debug and modification as needed.
Design, construct and modify test fixtures for performance and compliance tests as needed.
Perform and document component and PCB level testing for performance and compatibility as needed.
Analog & Digital circuit understanding & troubleshooting as needed.
Various analytical reporting as required.
Maintain regular attendance and ability to get along in a cross-functional team environment.
Ability to follow all safety procedures.
Support Company continuous improvement initiatives.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Electrical Engineering technical degree from a certified technical school or equivalent work experience required.
Familiarity and experience with best practices for layout of mixed-signal PCB designs, including digital, analog and power circuitry, is required.
Knowledge and understanding of applying PCB design routing rules is essential.
Broad familiarity with IPC design standards that apply to PCB manufacturing, as well as general awareness and experience with Design for Manufacturing and Testability, is strongly preferred.
Ability to manage and maintain an electronic component CAD library is essential.
Proficiency with Schematic Capture and PCB layout design software (Altium preferred).
Microsoft Excel proficiency a must.
Proficient communication skills (both written and verbal) required.
Attention to detail and organizational skills a must.
Silicon Expert and PDXpert expertise a plus.
Surface mount and through-hole soldering skills are a plus.
Familiarity and experience with 3D modeling software (e.g. Solidworks) is a plus.
