As the Aftertreatment Lifecycle and Cost Engineer within Caterpillar Industrial Power Systems Division in Mossville, IL , you will be part of a cross-functional, high performing team and develop products that make our world cleaner by meeting new and existing emissions regulations. You will work with industry leading experts to solve problems and deliver high quality, compliant emissions control components and systems. You will collaborate with a global team to develop innovative solutions while strengthening your analytical skills and mastery of engineering concepts. You will contribute to the planning and delivery of projects, continually learn and stay abreast of the latest technology, and broaden your professional network.
Caterpillar's Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Caterpillar's company strategy includes sustainability as one of four focus areas and IPSD is engaged and actively preparing green energy solutions for the future.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Proactively maintains serviceable parts status under aftertreatment design controls
Maintains aftermarket availability by working with manufacturing, quality, and design to solve lifecycle issues including component obsolescence
Develops and maintains cost reduction project portfolio to achieve OPACC improvements
Responsible for cost reduction & cost management for aftertreatment systems
Lead initiatives to improve aftermarket growth guide scores
Organize and lead lifecycle and cost reduction projects to achieve time, cost, and quality targets
Problem solves to address issues impacting quality and continuously improve processes
Effectively communicate with customers, suppliers, team members, and industry partners
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in an accredited Engineering curriculum
Experience with Creo and Teamcenter (or equivalent CAD tools)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Emphasis on initiative and self-starting tasks
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
Masters degree (or equivalent) in an accredited Engineering curriculum
Product development experience in a design, simulation, or test role
Experience with product development through all phases of the product lifecycle
Familiarity with engine and/or aftertreatment components and systems
Excellent communication skills
