Job Description

Global Tire Repair (GTR), a division of ITW, is headquartered in San Luis Obispo, CA. We are slated to be a $200MM+ in 2022, focused on the sale and manufacturing of Tire Sealant & Tire Repair Kits to the Auto Industry and Retail Markets.

Please note: this is not a remote position. This position requires the person in role work from our San Luis Obispo, CA office. But we promise, it is not so bad here! We have great views, friendly people, and food ever flowing.

The Project Manager leads the development of new products, engineering changes and second sourcing initiatives. This dynamic position identifies and executes on product opportunities to solve customer pain-points related to tire repair. The project lead will work in a cross functional manner with various functions within the organization such as Product Management, Marketing, Quality, Supply Chain, Purchasing, and leadership teams bring ideas to market.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the development of new products from ideation through mass production

  • Project management - execute the NPD Process, Engineering Changes (ECR Process)

  • Support product engineering and bring value add/value engineering (VA/VE) opportunities, and second sourcing opportunities

  • Understand customer requirements and translate needs to finished products

  • Develop Technical drawings, 3D models, and perform DFM and FEA analysis as needed (SolidWorks/ Fusion360)

  • Support product and customer compliance - label/package, customer required

  • Product documentation - specification sheet creation, Package specification, patent evaluation & documentation, etc.

  • Conduct and support product testing, including validation testing, competitive product assessment and QA test support

  • Support Product Manager with product lifecycle management

  • Develop, foster, and own vendor relationships

  • Assist NPD manager with any other duties as needed

  • 3+ Years of experience and a 4-year degree

  • Demonstrated ability to work with the following programs

  • MS suite

  • SPC for Excel

  • SolidWorks/ Fusion 360

  • Strong understanding of consumer behavior and possess the ability to translate information into new product ideas

  • Creativity must be a personal strength, exhibit willingness to be imaginative and push standard new product development thinking.

  • Clear understanding of innovation process and new product development principles

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with ability to effectively interact and present to multiple levels of organization

  • Strong analytical and insight skills

  • Able to effectively align, motivate, and lead internal cross-functional teams

  • Skilled at identifying and leveraging variety of tools to identify, build up, and assess new product development

  • Strong project management skills & strong attention to detail

  • Proven ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously

  • Proven skills in building relationships and collaboration

  • Customer focused with an ability to objectively assess trends and opportunities to fit with customers' needs

  • Working knowledge of supplier's quotes and basic financial principles
