Summary You will serve as a Materials Handler in the NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center Pearl Harbor Readiness Department, Deployment and Distribution of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR PEARL HARBOR. Responsibilities You will perform warehousing activities including receiving, storing, selecting, shipping, pick-up and delivery of general or specialized bulk materials and equipment. You will organize and coordinate an effective storage operation; provides for the care or supplies in storage (COSIS) applying preservation techniques to protect from deterioration or damage. You will select, palletize, and issue/deliver hazardous materials. You will prepare inventory and production reports, screen and identify shipping and receiving documents for discrepancies, and direct shipments to shipping or storage. You will use automated equipment such as computer terminals, optical readers, bar code wands, scanners, etc. to enter and extract data. You will operate large material moving equipment and vehicles inside the warehouse and fork lifts in confined places over wood, concrete, or similar type floors. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORAML SUPERVISION. An example of the screen out element is: I have the ability to perform a full range of Material Handler tasks working under limited supervision as demonstrated by performing a majority of the following: receiving, handling, segregating, storing, stowing, inventorying, and documenting the movement and storage of supplies, equipment, or materials in accordance with prescribed regulations; performing inspections of incoming shipments to check for damage and compliance with technical requirements; documenting discrepancies, damage, and technical non-compliance; reading and preparing shipping documents and labels. I use computer applications and use automated equipment such as bar code wands, laser scanners, optical readers, or computer terminals to enter and extract data; assist in accomplishing inventories and prepare inventory reports; document the movement of material; determining proper layout, handling and storage procedures; load and unload materials and place in correct location or storage areas. I operate motor vehicles, forklifts, and material handling equipment. I perform packing, cushioning, banding and wrapping of materials in accordance with prescribed standards as demonstrated through experience I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.
