Title:
Battery Subject Matter Expert (SME)
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Marine Corps Battery Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team. The SME will be responsible for providing expert knowledge and guidance on all aspects related to Marine Corps battery operations, including training, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
Role and Responsibilities:
Presides over battery related policy and engineering challenges including supply chain resilience, safety testing compliance, life cycle sustainment, and technical performance.
Evaluates current battery operations and provide recommendations for improvement and provide advice to the Marine Corps on the development of new battery technologies and capabilities.
Tracks and responsible for the accountability of the different battery types, quantity, location, and stock levels based on operational needs and to ensure operational readiness.
Establishes regular communication among the OSD Industrial Base Policy (IBP) Senior Battery Advisor, DON Operational Energy Office, and the USMC Expeditionary Energy Office to ensure alignment with DOD Battery Strategy and other service objectives.
Maintain battery data among Marine Corps System Command Program Offices, and ensure data is entered into the DOD Battery Database.
Encourage adoption of standard batteries.
Assist Program Offices with supportability analysis, funding requirements, and activities relevant to battery transition.
Participate in user evaluations with warfighters to understand tactical battery needs.
Represent the Marine Corps System Command in terms of battery needs.
Travel is required.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (preferred).
Minimum of 8 years of experience in Marine Corps battery operations.
Retired or former Marine Corps officer or senior enlisted with significant experience in battery operations.
In-depth knowledge of Marine Corps battery systems, equipment, and procedures.
Must have technical understanding of how batteries operate, particularly batteries of the lithium based rechargeable variety
Proven ability to develop and deliver effective training programs.
Strong problem-solving and presentations skills are required.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Must be eligible for Secret or higher security clearances.
Must be able to Travel as required for the contract (~20% local travel within the National Capital Region).
