Caterpillar's Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5,000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives.
IPSD Large Engines seeks a Senior Accounting Specialist ( internally known as Senior Staff Accountant) in the Peoria, IL area to support financial analysis for New Product Introduction (NPI) programs. In this position, you will play a critical role supporting our Product Group and Engineering teams, both based at Caterpillar's Technology Center campus.
Job duties include but are not limited to the following:
In this role, the Senior Accounting Specialist will:
Develop deep understanding of Caterpillar NPI processes and cash flow analysis
Gain familiarity with IPSD products, business strategy, and engineering program management
Engage with other functional program areas including aftermarket, commercial, and operations
The Senior Accounting Specialist will be exposed to a broad range of analysis and will be a critical partner in supporting NPI program success. They will take ownership of program financial models and demonstrate excellent financial acumen and attention to detail. They will also develop strong working relationships with other teams within IPSD and Caterpillar.
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Maintaining program financials and coordinating financial inputs across a broad stakeholder group
Completing detailed discounted cash flow and other financial analysis
Creating effective presentations to support gateway reviews, in flight program assessments, and ad hoc requests
Communicating complex financial situations to senior leadership
Navigating Caterpillar databases and systems
Providing research & engineering (R&E) budget support
Leveraging digital tools to improve reporting and communication
Basic Requirements:
4-year degree, preferably in accounting, finance or business-related degree
Minimum 3 years of accounting or relevant financial experience
Proven track record of demonstrating strong communication, initiative, and leadership
Top Candidate Will Also Have:
Professional Certification (CPA or CMA)
MBA or Master's Degree in Accounting (or equivalent)
Prior experience with Engineering and Commercial support, NPI
Prior experience with or willingness to learn new tools such as Axiom, Power BI, etc.
Additional Details:
Location: Peoria, IL area
Domestic relocation is available for those who qualify
