Job Summary:
At Caterpillar's Decatur, IL facility, we manufacture and assemble large mining and construction equipment. In this role as a Quality Engineer, you will report to the Quality Manager and will be primarily responsible for conducting investigations and analyses which contribute to the development and implementation of methods, procedures and equipment that ensure quality standards for parts and prime products. You will provide technical support for a commodity or commodity grouping of similar products by leading on quality development and certification of processes, cost reduction, production quality problems resolution, and warranty reduction. As a member of the Quality team, you will need to have a growth mindset, promote continuous improvement, and help build a defect-free culture. What you will do:
Primary contact for shop floor quality issue
Review top issues and determine ownership
Facilitate quality reviews and next steps with process partners
Record defect information in detail via electronic processes
Clearly communicate defects to other areas and support area personnel as issues arise.
Provide detailed quality feedback
Participate in defect investigations and Projects as required
Lead cross functional team to walk back defects, working towards RCCA
Support and train new team members
Read and interpret Engineering drawings
Adhere to all local processes and CQMS procedures
Adhere to the companies Health and Safety policy initiatives and safe working practices
Adhere to the Company's Values in Action, Integrity, Commitment, Excellence, Teamwork and Sustainability
What you will have:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Manufacturing
3+ years' experience working in a manufacturing environment, or in the quality field
OR
Top Candidates will also have:
Strong communication, cooperation and influence skills to work with all levels of employees and customers, especially with leadership management employees.
Excellent quality tools knowledge and to be able to teach manufacturing/office employees how to properly apply quality tools or techniques.
Advanced computer applications.

The primary location for this position is Decatur, IL
