Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Rail Engineer for employment in its established Rail Engineering Department in Milwaukee, WI . The Milwaukee Rail Team engages and works side by side with career rail professionals throughout the US to deliver projects for both freight and transit clients.

This position offers opportunity to contribute to heavy rail, light rail transit, commuter rail, intercity passenger rail, and freight rail projects of all sizes from planning through final design and construction. The team utilizes the latest software to deliver fast-paced, multi-discipline designs to meet the unique needs of a diverse pool of clients.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Be an integral member of a rail & civil design group of 3-5 employees

  • Builds analytic and design skills

  • Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer

  • Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates for railroad track and civil projects for private and public-sector clients under the supervision of an experienced engineer

  • Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer

  • Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision

  • Participate in proposal development and other marketing activities

  • Direct engineers-in-training, designers, and technicians

  • Perform quality control reviews and design checks of railroad projects

  • May require periodic travel for client visits, site visits, field assessments and construction inspections, as needed

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering + 2 years civil / rail engineering experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using MicroStation and InRoads, OpenRoads, OpenRail, or other BIM Software (AutoCAD, Civil3D, Geopak, etc.)

  • Engineer in Training Certification (EIT)

  • Valid Driver's License with a good driving record

  • Proficient with Civil 3D, InRoads, OpenRoads software packages

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineer with a focus on Transportation or Rail, a plus

Additional Information

  • Relocation is not available for this role.

  • Sponsorship may be available to existing US Employment VISA holders.

  • Occasional project related travel may be required.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $85,000.00 - $90,000.00.
