Responsibilities

As a Software Engineering Manager for our Growth Applications team, you will manage a multi-disciplined team building products that encourage the use of Bing and Copilot through enticing new features across all platforms. With Software Engineers, Product Managers, and Data Scientists under your purview, you will have a lot of independence to make both long term and tactical investments that will help us to continue to gain market share. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast paced, highly experimental environment, and is looking to expand their management scope to include different disciplines. Few among responsibilities are like,

  • Oversees team to drive multiple project plans, release plans, and work items in coordination with appropriate stakeholders across different products.

  • Oversees partnership with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements within and across teams for multiple solutions or product lines.

  • Oversees teams and provides technical leadership for identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.

  • Optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI).

  • Leads the resolution of complex site incidents and oversees for Designated Responsible Individuals (DRI) and directs the work of other engineers across product lines.

  • Keeps informed of and communicates new standards to ensure that the product development and scaling to customer requirements and applies best practices for meeting scaling needs and performance expectations and holds accountability for products that do not meet expectations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

  • 6+ years people management experience.

  • Proven track record of growing consumer products using product led growth techniques.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred qualifications :

  • Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.

Software Engineering M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $158,500 - $276,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $202,800 - $304,200 per year.
