Illinois Valley Community College Summer Camp Instructor Position: Digital Arts, Technology & STEM

Ed-Venture at IVCC, in conjunction with Black Rocket Productions, is seeking enthusiastic, motivated and talented individuals to work as Lead & Assistant Instructors to help teach exciting classes in coding, Unity-based game creation, Minecraft, YouTube content creation and MORE!
An Assistant Instructor must be at least 18 years of age by May 2022. This is a perfect job for college students or content experts (programmers & gamers). No experience is required as Black Rocket will TRAIN you! Classroom management skills are preferred. Upon completion of the online training program, instructors must demonstrate competency in the core concepts being taught and software used.
A Lead Instructor must be at least 21 years of age by May 2022. This is a perfect job for K12 certified classroom teachers with summers off who want to teach children various types of new technology. Lead Instructors are adults who are responsible for the well-being and education of the students. A lead instructor may have either a degree/experience in education or significant experience in one of the content areas. They must have a strong understanding of the course concepts being taught as well as any techniques and software involved. Classroom management skills are preferred. Upon completion of the Black Rocket training program, instructors must demonstrate competency in the core concepts and software used. In addition to teaching responsibilities, lead instructors are also responsible for the supervision of staff, equipment management, enforcement of site policies, and meeting project deadlines. Training begins in late spring. This is a seasonal position from July through August. Experience with technology preferred, but not required. Training is provided.
Get paid to build your resume and have a ton of fun! Training is paid and mostly online with some on site at Illinois Valley Community College. Each new hire will attend an online training program to learn the curriculum and the Black Rocket approach. Training begins in May 2022.
Most positions are full day, Monday-Friday from late June through early August.
Required Experience:
Qualifications for Lead Instructor:
Minimum of a completed Bachelor's degree
Teaching Certification preferred, but not required
Teaching experience is preferred, but not required
Duties of our Lead Instructors include, but are not limited to:
Prepare adequately by reviewing and internalizing the prepared curricula for the courses to be taught.
Prepare for and deliver multiple rotations of BRP curriculum per day to groups of up to 20 campers.
Familiarize oneself with the necessary software in order to educate and utilize in the classroom.
Implement the curriculum as written, adapting it as needed to improve the camper experience or accommodate individual campers.
Provide leadership, energy and camp spirit, constantly assessing group dynamics and the needs of individual campers.
Supervise Assistant Instructors working in your program area and inspire them to become excellent instructors.
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in and outside the classroom.
Qualifications for Assistant Instructor:
Enrolled in an undergraduate program
Fine Arts or Technology-based field of study preferred, but not required
Experience working with children is preferred, but not required
Duties of our Assistant Instructors include, but are not limited to:

Assist Lead Instructors in delivering the curriculum, learning skills necessary to be an effective and successful educator.

Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in and outside the classroom.
Practice and promote positive interaction with and among students.
Assume responsibility for the care of materials, equipment, and facilities.
Maintain professional status through communication with students, parents, program directors and supervisors.
Support camper check-in and check-out processes.
Provide excellent customer service to parents by communicating with them on a daily basis about their camper's experience.
