General Summary:
Manages the design, content, and delivery of communication targeted to Store Managers, Key Carriers, and Field Leaders regarding information, updates, and necessary actions for partners across the organization including Merchandising, Store Operations, Human Resources, Supply Chain, and IT departments. Creates and maintains communication schedules and workflow awareness.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Planning
Partner with all departments across the company to author and schedule the release of communications in a timely and orderly manner. Understand and verify the necessity of all requests in order to limit the amount of communication sent to the stores.
Maintain awareness of store workflow to ensure that in-store actionable events are scheduled in a time frame that is manageable for stores.
Create and maintain production schedules for Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, and Holiday workflow.
Partner with all departments to develop programs, procedures, and systems that achieve the expectations of merchandising within the constraints of operations using the available (or obtainable) technology.
Assist with Store Operations Communication strategic planning.
Partner with others on the ongoing design, maintenance, and administration of the Store Operations Field Leader content site.
Store Communications
Manage the development and production of all store communications. Partner with Merchandising, Store Operations, Human Resources, Supply Chain, Legal, and IT to design the communications to be complete, effective, timely, concise and easy-to-understand while supporting the objectives.
Responsible for ensuring the on-time completion and deployment of all store communications including, but not limited to;
Merchandising (including both MAG/POG sets)
Advertising
Ad Hoc requests (i.e. - sales opportunities, upgrades, banner messaging)
Weekly Updates
Letters of Authorization
Responsible for the content of publications from Store Operations Communications.
Write and edit content for communications as needed.
Development
Work with cross functional partners on expectations for content, design specifications, and publication expectations.
Ensure that the overall message being sent to stores falls within Dollar General guidelines and communicates corporate initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to multi-task and prioritize workflow to meet deadlines
Excellent organizational, project and time management skills
Ability to maintain attention to detail in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment
Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite programs including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Skilled in technical writing and in developing moderate to highly complex communication pieces
Strong proofreading skills in order to produce error-free documents
Knowledge of merchandising and operations principles and practices
Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively and efficiently communicate direction, concepts, ideas and expectations
Excellent interpersonal and group communication skills
Knowledge and understanding of standard proofreader marks
Service-oriented and team developmental approach to the work
Work Experience &/or Education:
Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, or related field
4-6 years of communications and management experience in corporate setting
