Job Description

This Senior Finance Manager position provides a unique opportunity is with the Cloud Services business and acts as a mini-CFO to the Cloud Partner organization. This a fantastic opportunity to partner with senior business leaders and influence the growth of one of the largest subscription businesses at VMware. You'll get the opportunity to leverage your problem-solving skills, financial planning & reporting acumen, evaluate business idea and develop a small team.

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

After 6-12 months, you'll act as the controller of the Cloud Partner Business.

  • You will develop leadership skills in guiding your team and in the demonstration of your controllership responsibilities

  • You will build sustained business processes that support financial outcomes and evolving business model.

  • You will have a strong understanding of the business goals both short-term and long-term and the roadmap to support it

  • As a member of the leadership team, you will guide the business towards options that support both near-term and long-term financial outcomes

  • You will bring critical thinking to evaluate and support financially responsible growth

Controllership Responsibilities:

  • Develop relationships with the Product Management, Product Marketing and Engineering teams to better understand the business model, goals and objectives

  • Manage FP&A responsibilities for both the topline and expense across the P&L

  • Advise and support the General Manager and his directs on financial points of view related to emerging businesses

  • Manage the budget and provide oversight on financial management with discipline and controls

  • Support Annual Planning through thoughtful market and historical performance, working with sales

  • Develop Long-Range Plans for the business and highlight key drivers

  • Support CFO QBR presentations efforts

  • Develop best practices, and sustainable processes for financial reviews and outputs

Business :

  • During contract negotiations, you will interpret and evaluate business cases including the ability to develop & use fallback options.

  • Be prepared with and effectively present to your manager, peers, or customers any necessary data to draw valid conclusions and resolve problems to help reduce the time until a successful sales opportunity is closed.

  • For non-standard deal structures you will prepare the revenue accounting position memo and journal entries as needed.

  • Mature expense management programs and evaluation of portfolio of investments

Business Model Support:

  • Pricing and Packaging financial modeling and support. Evaluating and influencing the PnP exercises to achieve strong financial outcomes

  • Understand Market opportunities and challenges to assess future growth projections with context

  • Proactively engage with product and GTM business teams on various cross-functional engagements

You will report to the Sr. Director of Finance for this role, and will be coached and supported on how to achieve your OKRs. You'll have the opportunity to manage a team that is responsible for both topline and bottom line related financial outcomes. The location of this role is flexible around key VMware Finance hub offices in the US, to allow our teams to engage occasionally in-perform or regularly based on business need and employee feedback.
