Your Impact
Design
Manages the planning, permitting, development, and implementation of environmental projects to ensure that development projects comply with environmental laws and regulations with minimal supervision.
Develop planning studies and documents related to environmental planning, including National Environmental Policy Act, National Historic Preservation Act documentation and/or other environmental planning documentation, figures and maps.
Authors technical reports with clarity and minimal grammatical or spelling errors.
Conduct cultural resources fieldwork, reporting, and mitigation in support of pre-construction project design and engineering. Conduct data QAQC reviews.
Demonstrated commitment to keeping up-to-date in knowledge of current cultural resources management and Section 106 regulations and planning practices.
Coordination, preparation, and submittal of development permit applications and other land use planning for energy (oil/gas, renewables, etc.), transportation, or government projects with minimal supervision.
Oversees implementation of project development requirements with WSP personnel, outside contractors, and agency/tribal stakeholders.
Analyze
Participate in decision making to carry out land development with consideration given to the natural environment, social, political, and economic factors to achieve sustainable outcomes while following local, state, federal, and/or tribal environmental regulations and procedures.
Conducts data collection, research, field surveys, and technical work under supervision- up to 20% time spent traveling.
Prepares technical memoranda, documentation, and reports under supervision.
Responsible for understanding regulatory rules and rule changes.
Conducts analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of environmental data obtained during field investigations, offering input with developing action plans for mitigation and permitting activities projects to minimize impacts to the health of the environment.
Collaborate
Work as part of an interdisciplinary team in executing project work.
Provide guidance to junior staff or interns to assist with project flow.
Contribute to development of proposals, including scope of work/technical approach, budget, and schedule.
Collaborate on presentation material and ideaswith other staff in preparation for public meetings or client interactions.
Assist with development and scoping of medium-sized projects.
Participate in public, stakeholder, and client engagement in a professional manner.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Planning, Urban Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience.)
3 to 5 years of experience working in the environmental planning and permitting field, completing environmental surveys, impact assessments, and regulatory compliance for a variety of projects relating to transportation, energy development, zoning, and tribal or federal land activities.
Demonstrated ability be listed on federal and state cultural resource permits in New Mexico as Field Director.
Primary report authorship in a cultural resources management context and experience providing quality control review of field documents, site forms and reports required.
Highly capable self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
Familiar with relevant cultural resources laws, permitting requirements, and agency notification and regulatory compliance practices.
Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others and expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.
Basic proficiency with business writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree is preferred.
Experience working with tribal, federal, state, or local agencies or the public.
