Job Description

Supervises, assigns, coordinates and evaluates semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel according to their skill, experience and job knowledge. Supervises and trains employees to improve quality and quantity of work performed. Recommends training to enhance skill and productivity of employees, and assists in development of training procedures. Breaks broad strategies down to practical action plans and ensures employees are trained to perform these plans. Responsible for complying with all technical aspects of the job including adherence to all drawings, procedures, etc. Responsible for manufacturing, installation, operation, testing, and process operations that have a significant financial impact on the company's performance. Supervises qualified trades staff; monitoring job and budget performance for all shifts.

Additional common management responsibilities as listed in Shipbuilding Management Charter 0001 within command media (SBMC 0001) and applicants should review the Charter and policies and procedures before applying for position.

Basic Qualifications

HS Diploma/GED and 6 years of craft experience, with at least 2 years in production supervisory experience. Apprentice Graduate/AA Degree and 2 years of craft experience, with at least 2 years of production supervisory experience.

Must be willing to work any shift.

Preferred Qualifications

Waterfront experience, knowledge of all phases of ship construction, through understanding of ship distributive systems. Familiarity with regulatory body requirements, repair procedures, test procedures; and other Company procedures such as standard procedures and departmental operating instructions. Proven leadership, with capability to motivate people, and ability to interact with all levels of personnel and management. Prior managerial experience in Propulsion, Auxiliaries, Deck Gear, Weapons Handling , and/or Damage Control equiptment on assigned Contract(s). Coordinates vendor activities pertaining to HM&E equipment installed aboard the vessel ensuring control of test status and re-entry control. Executes Ripouts and insures Mechanical Tag-Outs are properly enforced and maintained as required by Command Media for retesting work instructions and procedures. Computer skills (MS Office and MS Project).
