Job Summary
This role will be responsible for leading and performing Cengage Distribution freight audit & payment processes while maintaining and improving processing accuracy & efficiencies. This role requires strong analytical skills, outstanding attention to detail, a solid understanding of freight audit procedures and transportation industry norms, and the skills to lead small projects with cross-functional & multi-department involvement.
What you'll do here:
Perform required daily freight billing tasks across all modes of transport (including small parcel, LTL, FTL, Ocean Freight and Air Freight) to code and process invoices for payment.
Work directly with freight audit payment vendors to ensure accurate audits and timely payments are completed.
Resolve discrepancies between negotiated rates and invoiced amounts from transportation providers when identified.
Support Cengage finance requirements for classification of freight charges for internal business reporting.
Manage performance of freight audit and payment vendor(s).
Identify possible improvements in current processes and guide projects to correct.
Provide backup to and collaborate with other Transportation department personnel
Perform various other transportation related clerk activities as needed, such as:
Gathering import/export information to complete customs forms
Scan/Upload shipping documentation into repository and file appropriately
Other duties as required and assigned.
Skills You Will Need Here:
Excellent skills using Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
Advanced Microsoft Excel Experience & other analytical tools such as SQL & Power BI a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills that demonstrate a proved ability to develop relationships with a range of internal and external customers.
Strong time management, planning, organizational and problem solving skills
Quality driven and results oriented
Education and Experience:
Minimum one to three years experience in freight bill audit or similar transportation related role
Familiarity with LTL, FTL and small parcel pricing and contract specifics
Experience successfully working independently and communicating effectively across internal departments
Experience leading and completing small projects to successful completion
Analysis experience in supply chain, finance, or distribution a plus
High school diploma or equivalent or field experience equivalent
Bachelor's Degree preferred

Base Pay Range
The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location. Sales roles often incorporate a significant incentive compensation program beyond this base pay range.
$49,500.00 - $79,200.00 USD
