The Opportunity

As a dedicated Software Engineer (Contact Center applications) - Intermediate Level, you will work with the Member Service Representative (MSR) Desktop Infrastructure team within USAA's Contact Center Technologies department. This team applies agile methodologies to engineer and maintains platform capabilities which enable USAA to operate as a multi-channel contact center that is compliant, governed, and passionate about the measurement and improvement of MSR behaviors and their interactions with USAA members.

Within defined guidelines and framework, provides support to the Enterprise through delivering best in class technology solutions. Engaged in all phases of the software systems and application development lifecycle which include gathering and analyzing requirements, designing, testing, documenting, and implementing software, responding to outages.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX Or Phoenix, AZ. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Design, develop, code, and test technical solutions

  • Write code to deliver features, and improvements, on a regular basis

  • Investigates and resolve technical problems and production issues through solving techniques

  • Continually improves operations by conducting systems analysis and recommending changes in policies and procedures.

  • Prepares and installs solutions by resolving and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.

  • Follows the software development lifecycle.

  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's Degree or 4 additional years of experience beyond the minimum requirement can be used in lieu of a degree OR Approved certification from CodeUp, Galvanize, VetFIT (Veterans for IT) or eFIT (Employees for IT).

  • 2 years of software development experience specific to a subject area/technology.

  • 1 year of experience delivering technology solutions in all phases of the software systems and application development lifecycle.

  • Basic Understanding of one or more of the following: Java, Swift, Objective-C, Cobol, JavaScript, Kotlin, C++, HTML, CSS, SQL

  • Knowledge and understanding of fixing applications and systems within production issues.

  • Ability to quickly understand applicable intuition for business to provide appropriate Engineering solutions

  • Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions.

  • Basic understanding of cloud technologies and tools.

What sets you apart:

  • JavaScript, Rest, React, Web APIs

  • Microsoft .Net technologies including C# with WCF and WPF (Windows Communication Foundation and Windows Presentation Foundation)

  • Automated test framework such as WebDriver IO, Selenium, and Puppeteer

  • Microsoft Windows troubleshooting utilizing windows event viewer, windows registry, windows services and developer tools for browsers

  • Elastic and Prometheus

  • OpenShift, Docker, or Kubernetes

What we offer:

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $71,490.00 - $136,690.00 .

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
