What We're Looking For
Bring your best to this exciting opportunity for a principal environmental planning and management position. You will be leading all aspects of CEQA and NEPA documents for rail, transit, and road and highway projects. This position will focus primarily on transformative rail and transit projects with key Bay Area clients and possibly assist with road and highway projects. The role entails coordinating with project managers, project designers, and other disciplines on multiple large scale and complex environmental transportation planning and urban design projects. Technical excellence, client satisfaction, and collaborative team work is expected. Join our growing team of environmental professionals!
Primary Focus Will Include:
Managing CEQA and NEPA Environmental Documents for FRA and FTA (scoping to design)
Providing QC for environmental technical studies
Authoring technical environmental studies (sub-specialties open) or providing key strategic advice on approaches to completing studies
Managing budgets, environmental scopes, and schedules
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Master's degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Sciences, or Urban Planning or related field.
American Institute of Certified Planner (AICP), Professional Transportation Planner (PTP), Certified Environmental Professional (CEP), Envision
Strong writing and analytical skills
Experienced transportation background with NEPA and CEQA topics and project delivery processes
environmental technical discipline expertise
Grant writing a bonus/Caltrans experience a bonus
Equity community outreach experience
What You'll Need
Essential Responsibilities:
Executes a higher level of project achievement and consistently delivers strong client performance.
Determines objectives and requirements within the discipline, organizes programs and projects, and develops standards and guides for diverse planning activities.
Represents the practice within the firm on a regional or national scope, both internally and externally.
Networks - Initiates and maintains extensive contacts with transportation planning, engineering, urban design and/or planning leaders and other discipline/office leaders (internal/external).
Participates with professional organizations such as serving on committees and/or as an executive or board member.
Advises on best practice and technical expertise.
Provides guidance and mentors staff.
Supports department managers and office leadership with strategic planning, staffing/training, and other special projects.
May serve as project manager or task lead.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Environmental Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Geography, or related field and 12 years related experience
Master's Degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Environmental Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Geography, or related field and 11 yrs of relevant experience
