SUMMARY
Responsible for training and assisting employees in assigned department. Performs work as assistant to supervisor of department with decision making authority in the production processes of the specific department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Follows all company safety rules and policies.
Assists supervisor in monitoring and maintaining good employee safety practices Reports to, and communicates directly with, departmental supervisor, all other production supervisors, Engineering, and Quality Assurance departments to ensure production flows smoothly through the facility.
May attend safety committee rotation as requested by production supervisor.
Trains and assists department employees in performance of their assigned job duties.
Controls inventory needs of the department by ensuring departmental employees have necessary parts to perform their assigned duties. Ensures that departmental employees adhere to schedule and production rates by monitoring their activities, parts supply/shortages, and takes necessary action to procure needed items so that production will not be delayed. Assigns and changes work assignments as needed by production schedule.
May be required to schedule parts to appropriate equipment.
May complete final quality check of specific unit prior to lab testing and direct the work required if the unit does not meet standards. Reviews job travelers prior to, during and at end of departmental work on the unit.
Completes and submits required production report information as required.
Reports to supervisor any unusual conditions regarding employees or their work activities.
Inspects products and processes while performing job duties to ensure all work done meets or exceeds standards of the company's quality program.
May perform same duties as an assembler.
Works cooperatively and congenially with co-workers to achieve cohesive and productive work processes and work environment.
Performs other duties as requested by direct supervisor or other management personnel
QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Possess a current forklift license.
Possess knowledge of, and capable of performing, all job duties in specific department.
Ability to use a variety of small hand tools and power tools.
Ability to read a tape measure and calipers.
Possess basic mechanical aptitude and ability.
Ability to read, understand and follow a wiring diagram and dimension drawings.
Ability to communicate clearly with co-workers and supervisor.
Ability to understand production and delivery schedules.
Possess basic computer skills.
1+ years of assembly experience
Education and Work Experience
High school diploma or GED is required.

Handle small hand tools, power tools, and unit components. Handling may be done unilaterally (one-handed) or bilaterally (two-handed) depending on size and shape of object and task being performed.
Have constant use of fingers in order to perform assembly and installation duties as required.
Have corrected vision to be aware of surroundings and location of items needed and perform various other job duties.
Have corrected hearing to listen to needs and advice of supervisors and co-workers and listen to the environment to be aware of surroundings.
Be capable of communicating verbally with supervisors and co-workers.
Be mentally alert and capable of remembering faces, names, oral instructions and details.
Be able to tolerate environmental conditions of plant which involves temperatures that may vary with seasonal changes and in which noise exists.
Be alert and able to identify a safety hazard, should one occur, in order to avoid it and to report it immediately to the appropriate person or, if directed, by taking corrective measures to eliminate the hazard.
Be able to react to changes in schedules in a productive manner and to handle other tasks as required by management.
Be able to tolerate wearing of designated personal protective equipment for the work assignment (i.e safety glasses, cut-resistant gloves, dust masks).
Working Conditions
Required to attend work when scheduled. Attendance is an essential function and working overtime as scheduled to meet customer expectations

Visual requirements include ability to read and follow directions.

Will be required to wear personal protective equipment in posted areas of the plant.
