Position Description
Serco is looking for a Data Scientist to join the newly formed Enterprise Technology Group. This group has been charged with finding and developing opportunities where digital technologies and information can create new customer value.
The Data Scientist will work with a fast-paced micro development team delivering analysis and transforming data into tangible value. You will use statistical, analytical, machine learning and Natural Language Processing tools to develop smart solutions our clients' toughest challenges. The Data Scientist will report to a Senior Engineers and will operate in various roles such as individual contributor, team member, and project lead. A high degree of teamwork, collaboration skills, and personal integrity are required. This is a hybrid role, which will require some time on-site and DC metro area is the preferred work location.

Have been exposed to data science techniques such as clustering, classification, neural networks, reinforcement learning, supervised and unsupervised learning, sentiment analysis, natural language processing, etc.
Are imaginative and engaged in new and emerging data science technologies
Can rapidly iterate and evolve ideas into tangible solutions
Implement and validate predictive and prescriptive models, create, and maintain statistical models with a focus on big data
Incorporate a variety of statistical and machine learning techniques in your projects
Write programs to cleanse and integrate data in an efficient and reusable manner
Use leading edge and open-source tools such as Python and R
Work in a Lean Agile Team partnering with domain experts, engineers, and developers of all backgrounds
Communicate with internal and external clients to understand and define business needs and appropriate modelling techniques to provide analytical solutions
Evaluate modelling results and communicate the results to technical and non-technical audiences
Develop plans to define how a digital solution will scale in the future and how it will be supported
Communicate technical details through presentations, technical reports, or white papers
Educate and influence stakeholders, customers, development, and engineering teams on effective solutions and best practices
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will:
Be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Clearance
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or equivalent STEM degrees
1 to 3 years of experience (or Master's degree can substitute for experience) developing data science solutions
Experience with principles of design and implementation/consulting experience with distributed applications
Expertise in Microservices architecture, building Serverless applications
Strong grasp of at least one programming language (Python, R) and a willingness to learn new ones as well as domain-specific languages (DSLs)
Foundational abilities with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and Qlik
Strong technical presentation skills with the ability to convey complex concepts in an easy-to-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent customer facing interaction skills
