Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking a Test Technician 2 to join our team at Stennis Space Center, MS .
In this role, you will work with technicians and Quality Assurance personnel, as well as supporting assembly, test, and delivery of large rocket engines and components, with primary responsibility for rocket engine test preparation, test, and post-test processing. You will have an opportunity to develop specialized knowledge of engine and component function & assembly, pre- and post-test processing and functional testing and inspections. Work with staff in related disciplines, including contractors, and customers, to ensure successful assembly, testing, and delivery of Aerojet Rocketdyne products. Daily communication of activities and status with Aerojet Rocketdyne personnel at the Design Centers will be required.

Essential Functions
100% - Performs hands-on servicing and assembly of rocket engines and related test facility and support equipment at a customer or company facility.
Replacing Line Replaceable Units (LRUs);
Conducting product testing diagnostics;
Repair and maintain hardware;
Integrating product with ground systems, payloads or flight/launch vehicles.
Additional duties include locating and correcting malfunctions or discrepancies in development/flight hardware and associated ground support equipment. Interpret data and assist engineering in diagnosing non-conformances. Use and continually improve knowledge and experience to independently perform work at multiple locations.
Requirements
Requires an Associate's degree in a related discipline and 3 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement. Additionally, individual must be able to obtain and maintain NASA Personnel Reliability Program (PRP) security clearance.
Additional Requirements/Preferred Qualifications
A basic knowledge of mechanical systems, various measuring and testing devices, and experience with hand tools are essential.
Ability to understand and interpret required engineering drawings, instructions, and technical manuals needed.
Knowledge of mechanical equipment such as high-pressure pneumatic, cryogenic and hydraulic systems, NDT type equipment, etc.
Aerospace background with A&P license/military equivalent proficiency test preferred.
Must be willing and able to travel up to 10% as required.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements
The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balancing (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds.
Work may require the ability to operate material handling equipment (forklift, crane, hoist, man lift, etc.) in a safe manner.
While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels or with fume or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, etc. requiring the use of personal protective equipment such as face protection (safety glasses, goggles, face shield), foot protection (i.e. steel toed shoes, rubber boots, etc.), gloves, hard hat, shop coat and hearing protection.
Some positions may require Respirator clearance up to and including the Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Level A clearance.
Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations.
Work duties may also require working in a standard office setting and using standard office equipment, including a computer and/or the ability to travel by air or auto. Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary.
This position may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
