Manager - TAM | Technical Account Management

The Elevator Pitch: Why will you enjoy this new opportunity?

As a TAM Manager you are part of our growing Customer Success Organization (CS). You will lead and manage a group of TAMs (Technical Account Manager) and their activity for top accounts within the Global Account Segment TAM Practice. You will proactively innovate and mentor to accelerate impact of your team while ensuring key business and operational goals are met. You will establish collaborative relationships with other field teams to advance the interests of VMware customers and achieve mutual objectives. Finally, you will lead by example, demonstrating our EPIC2 values and supporting the personal growth and continuous development of your team.

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

  • Recruit, lead and mentor a team of TAMs

  • Accountable for business metrics including TAM bookings, revenue, margin, renewals, and utilization

  • Ensure high customer CSAT and NPS are achieved

  • Maintain a basic understanding of all VMware product lines and solutions

  • Ensure productivity of TAM's and balances out near-term revenue delivery requirements versus long-term practice development goals

  • Lead team in design and development of innovative solutions to customer requirements using our server and desktop products, with assistance from our internal engineering and consulting architects

  • Help to design and document best practices in overall TAM function through VMware

  • Represent the TAM program as needed during pre-sales opportunities

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What requirements, skills, or assignments will you be performing on a regular basis?

As a member of the Customer Success TAM Leadership team, you will be working with a team of TAMs and you will:

  • Travel: Ability to travel up to 25% regionally (NOTE: The TAM team is distributed throughout the region)

  • Must have proven experience managing teams who interface with clients for a fee (billable resources)

  • Prior experience with post-sales delivery leadership

  • Work with strategic-level accounts

  • Demonstrate ability to positively influence team productivity and thought leadership

  • Harness the team's passion for innovation and business growth

  • Take a genuine interest in the success of others

  • Demonstrate success with operational precision, excellent communications and interpersonal skills including the ability to interact, communicate and build relationships with all levels of personnel

  • Provide business insight and problem-solving skills with the ability to influence change

  • Be agile and able to adjust quickly to many different situations and challenges

  • Be effective at working independently and in a virtual team setting

  • Have strong organizational skills with the ability to handle contending client demands

  • Have experience in a start-up environment and experience building teams

  • Have a strong understanding of strategic sales process

Remote: This role is a home-based office position in or near the Central or West Regions of the United States . Candidate must be able to travel up to 25% regionally (NOTE: The TAM team is distributed throughout the region)

For US based candidates, the annual pay range (OTE for commissioned roles; Salary for other roles) for this position is: $177,000 - $319,000. The actual offer will be based on the role, location, and individual candidate experience. Bonus, commission, and/or equity may be eligible for this position.
