WORK LOCATION
This position will be based out of Birmingham, AL, however candidates living outside of the area may be considered with the expectation that they could successfully telework and would be willing to travel to work and/or field location on a routine (to be determined) and as-needed basis.
This position will require a mix of both field and office work.
Some office work can be performed remotely (telework/work from home).
JOB SUMMARY
The Substation Physical Estimating Team Leader is responsible for leading a team consisting of direct reports, supplemental staff, and contract resources to provide project scoping, conceptual design and estimating services in support of the Operating Company's transmission capital program. The team is responsible for providing Substation Physical conceptual designs as part of Alabama Power and Mississippi Power's Gated Project Management process and for supporting the Operating Company's planning and budgeting process by providing complete and accurate cost estimates associated with transmission capital projects. The Team Leader position is responsible for providing performance management for all direct reports. The position will require field visits and may involve occasional overnight travel.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Experience
Prior experience in substation physical design or estimating, substation maintenance, substation construction, transmission planning, or transmission operations is required.
Prior experience in substation physical design or estimating is preferred.
Experience with TEAMS (Transmission Estimating And Management Systems) preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

General knowledge of transmission planning, design, construction, operations, and maintenance.
Working knowledge of the design standards, processes, procedures, and tools used to scope, estimate, and design transmission projects.
General knowledge of substation construction methods, equipment, techniques, and associated costs.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products and substation software applications currently in use to estimate and design substation projects.
Time management and organizational skills sufficient to manage multiple projects with various priorities and competing deadlines.
Exhibits strong problem solving, oral and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills.
