In-Service Testing (IST) Engineer (Corporate)
JOB SUMMARY:
Southern Nuclear Operating Company's Corporate Fleet Plant Support Department provides support for the Southern Nuclear Fleet. We are seeking an experienced IST engineer. This position is responsible for providing technical leadership and guidance in IST. The successful candidate should have experience with IST, and an understanding of the ASME OM Code used in the nuclear plant environment. Activities involve identifying industry best practices, developing/maintaining fleet procedures, setting a strategic vision, participation in industry working groups, and troubleshooting problems.
The job can be located at any of our SNC Plant site, Plant Farley, Plant Hatch, or Plant Vogtle or at the Corporate HQ location in Birmingham. The candidate must live within 1 hour of one of these locations to support ERO duties.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or university, or Professional Engineer license, is required. (Engineering Technology will not be accepted).
Mechanical discipline is preferred. Nuclear, Civil, Chemical, and Electrical Engineering degrees will be considered based upon the candidate's experience.
Experience Preferences:
The position will be filled as either a level 6 or 7 depending on the successful candidate's qualifications and expertise.
A strong technical background in mechanical and working knowledge of ASME OM codes, standards, and regulatory requirements related to IST.
Five (5) years of application and experience with IST is required. Eight (8) or more years of experience with IST is preferred.
Minimum three (3) years of Check Valve Condition Monitoring program experience is preferred.
Experience in the development of Relief Request, Alternatives, Cold Shutdown Justifications and/or Refueling Outage Justification is preferred.
Proficiency in interpretation of system/component /isometric drawings is preferred.
Nuclear power site station experience is preferred.
Previous experience in systems engineering, programs engineering, or component engineering is preferred.
Previous experience in Nuclear Operations is a plus.
Appendix J experience is preferred.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will be responsible for the SNC IST program performance and associated processes/procedures are maintained and standardized throughout the SNC fleet. The IST Engineer is responsible for ensuring regulatory code compliance, application of industry best practices, and the governance and oversight of plant equipment inspection/testing. Engineering assignments typically include refueling outage support. This position is expected to support ERO duties.
