Job Description:

This Engineering Project Team Leader position is within Caterpillars Large Power Systems Division and is part of the team that develops advanced high pressure fuel systems used in Caterpillar & Perkin's engines. This position serves as the technical team leader for the Fuel System's Solenoids team tasked with engineering design ownership of electro-magnetic solenoids that control fuel injectors and pumps.

The position offers experiences ranging from concept design, NTI/NPI/CPI program leadership, test planning and execution, structural/hydraulic/electrical analysis, supplier collaboration & negotiation, manufacturing/assembly planning, lab ownership & strategy, and mechatronics control strategy development.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Technical leadership of four CAT engineers on Fuel System Solenoid products in planning, design, analysis, test, validation, inspection, and documentation

  • Ownership of current and new designs including concepts, model maintenance, print updates and releasing, and change management

  • Supplier collaboration & support in conjunction with purchasing and quality teams including assurance of supply, capital and pricing negotiations, sourcing strategy, and change validation

  • Ownership of the team's test laboratory including safety, compliance to internal/external certifications, documentation, standard work, maintenance contracts, etc.

  • Leadership on team's current and future NTI, NPI, and CPI projects, both internally and across impacted customers

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:

Basic Requirements:

  • Education - Bachelor's degree or higher in accredited Engineering field (Mechanical, Chemical, Aero, Ag, Electrical, Computer Science, Materials Science, etc.)

  • Experience - 8yrs + engineering experience in Engineering related field (design, test, manufacturing, research)

  • Must have strong problem-solving skills, excellent analytical skills, a good mechanical and/or electrical/electronic aptitude, and good communications skills.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Master's degree (or equivalent) in accredited Engineering field

  • Diesel Fuel Systems or Engine Systems design, controls (Mechatronics), performance, or simulation experience

  • Solenoid or electronic component/system design, test, or manufacturing experience

Additional Information:

  • This position is located in Mossville, IL.

  • Up to 25% travel possible, domestic and international.

  • This position will close on Sunday, May 5th at 11:59PM.
