Motor Vehicle Mechanic
Description:
The Motor Vehicle Mechanic will repair, rebuild, or overhaul major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles, buses, trucks, or tractors.
Work involves the following: diagnosing the source of trouble and determining the extent of repairs required, replacing work or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or engine parts, grinding and adjusting valves, brake systems, changing tires, rebuilding carburetors, overhauling transmissions, and repairing fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems.
Must follow a maintenance schedule and check fluids. Requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent program.
Must be a good problem solver, mechanically inclined, pay attention to detail, ability to multi-task, properly communicate, and follow detailed instructions.
Must be able to work different shifts as required, be able to travel as needed, and be able to obtain and maintain security clearance if required.
Must be able to move safely move about in a maintenance environment and be able to sit, stand, squat, walk, and talk for extended periods of time.
Candidate will be exposed to extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain), and will be subject to loud noises, exhaust fumes, and dust.
Qualifications:
Must have 2-3 years of experience
High School Diploma
Valid Driver's License
Class A CDL and X endorsement preferred
Must have the Fort Hood Fuel Handling with HAZMAT Endorsement qualified or have the ability to complete the course requirements
