The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. Our Integrated Logistics (ILS) team provides end-to-end integrated logistics solutions designed, deployed, and executed to support Caterpillar's global footprint of manufacturing plants, suppliers, distribution centers and dealers. Capabilities include:
Packaging Design and Returnable Container Management.
Inbound International and Domestic Transportation.
Logistics Network Operations - including Manufacturing Parts Nodes, Site Logistics and Cross Dock Operations.
Outbound Logistics - International and Domestic: Specialized Cargo and Product Distribution Solutions.
Customs Operations - Ensuring shipment velocity (across international borders) while complying with import and export regulations throughout the world.

The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) currently has an opening for a Senior Logistics Manager located at our facility in Griffin, GA. As a Senior Logistics Manager at Caterpillar, you will have an opportunity to manage a large-sized logistics center to ensure efficient, high degrees of client satisfaction and timely processing and distribution parts for Logistics Division clients.
Responsibilities:
Managing a more complex or larger facility which can include multiple clients within the facility or more sophisticated processes such as those found in a manufacturing parts node facility (i.e., large receiving areas, repackaging, export/import, heavy kitting operations, etc.).
Promoting/supporting day-to-day operational safety issues with support of management team.
Managing operations to ensure client service levels and financial targets (costs, budgets, variable margin and before-tax profit) are achieved.
Responsible for distribution operation processes which include but are not limited to receiving, storage, kitting, subassembly, order filling, packing, shipping, quality control, inspection, inventory counts, indirect supply scheduling, returns, and related functions to provide shipping and receiving accuracy, inventory reconciliation and making decisions on defective material.
Responsible for repackaging operations.
Working with management team to develop/review operational procedures and quality plans to ensure the operation complies with local government requirements.
Evaluating and updating metrics to assess performance and implement enhancement/improvements.
Developing and implementing operations changes to reduce costs and/or improve efficiency.
Responsible for all employee related activities of the facility.
Working with HR Manager, when appropriate, to recruit, select, develop, and train staff.
Partnering with HR Manager to participate in agency contract negotiations and administering staffing contract with the agency workforce.
Working closely with management team to determine methods to monitor the facility for security, metrics, environmental, and maintaining the property by providing building maintenance and janitorial services.
Purchasing and maintaining equipment, vehicles and purchasing office and storeroom supplies.
Other duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time-to-time.
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, or relevant field.
7 (plus) years of experience in warehouse logistics operations and/or manufacturing operations.
Deep understanding of logistics operations and manufacturing operations.
The ability to travel domestically up to 10% of the time.
Top Candidates will also have:
Good human relations and communications (oral and written) skills, and ability to make independent decisions with very little direct supervision.
Ability to engage and manage a diverse workforce.
Project management experience.
Material kitting experience.
Experience in Engine manufacturing.
Experience running multiple warehouse operations at the same time.
Solid understanding of logistics and inventory management software.
Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Solid understanding of supply chain practices and procedures.
Demonstrated ability to work with/collaborate with other business units to achieve success.
