This team collaborates on naval engineering contracts, supporting the Navy, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), and other commercial entities, driving innovation and delivering solutions to complex challenges.
We are on the lookout for an enthusiastic and experienced Mid-level Electrical Engineer to function as an experienced Machinery Control Engineer at our Arlington, VA office. In addition to, the successful candidate will mentor junior engineers and engage in the design, construction, support, and evaluation of high-performance maritime systems for various customers. This opportunity is ideal for those looking to impact the maritime engineering field and work on programs that blend traditional excellence with innovative solutions.
This position is contingent upon your ability to obtain a DoD Secret level clearance post-employment.
In this role, you will:
Develop control and monitoring system hardware and software drawings, schematics, test procedures, and specifications, applying industry and regulatory body requirements appropriate and applicable to the ship design;such as ABS SVR, IEEE 45, NFPA, CFR46, and MIL Specifications
Develop baseline requirements and architecture for New Construction ships based on acquisition and requirements documents
Interface externally with vendors and customers to ensure the delivered system meet technical performance specifications
Develops and evaluates designs of shipboard machinery control and monitoring systems, interior communication systems, and integrates instrumentation and alarm functions for these systems
Travel onboard naval ships and support install or troubleshoot of the Machinery Control System (MCS) for hardware and software.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must have:
A Bachelor's degree with 5-7 years of experience in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
US Citizenship required and must be able to obtain a Secret clearance. (post employment)
A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in one of the following marine fields: electric propulsion systems; machinery control systems; power generation and distribution systems; or interior communications systems.
Knowledge ofMS Office 2010 (Excel, Word, Outlook), MATLAB, Simulink, Simulink Coder (Real-Time Workshop), and PLC programing
Have the ability to execute a ship check at a shipyard or Naval Base
Experience writing requirements and drafting Statement of Work (SOW) and Technical Instruction
Knowledge of ABS SVR, IEEE 45, CFR46, NFPA, and MIL specifications
Applicants must be able to work well alone and as part of a team.
10-15% travel required
