Position Summary:
The Development Associate works on a team which manages a portfolio of multifamily real estate developments in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast areas. An Associate actively manages projects within the team's development portfolio, from the conceptual stage, until the final certificate of occupancy. This role reports to the Director of Development.
Accountabilities:
Duties include the pursuit of new development opportunities, market research, underwriting, due diligence, managing the design process, site acquisition, and obtaining final permits and approvals.
Acquires and maintains a thorough knowledge of project schedules and municipal reviews, identifies ways to accelerate project starts, and executes the timelines budgeted.
Ensures the financial projections for our projects are realistic and accurate.
Lead, manage and hold accountable our design team, third-party consultants, analysts, and other team members
Identify and manage risks in our development portfolio while providing visibility to the team
Mentor analysts and Senior analysts in the team to help further develop their skills

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, CoStar, and other asset / market level data analytics systemand have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
3+ years experience developing multifamily. The candidate must have a strong understanding and experience in the development process.
BS/BA degree in Real Estate, Finance or similar, MBA a plus
