As a talented Information Architect under the Chief Technology Office, you will support the Bank & Financial Crimes Data Domains that manage information and data produced and consumed for the purpose of providing banking services and compliance across USAA. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact as we mature Enterprise Architecture, better aligning the Information Architecture, Business Architecture, and Technical Architecture disciplines.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
What you'll do:
Understands the Information Governance policies and standards, while enforcing those specific to Information Architecture as it relates to data structures, data movement, risks, and controls.
Participates in feedback and development efforts to define the mission of the information architecture practice, goals, critical success factors, as well as policies for the Information Strategy & Architecture (IS&A) for a given domain/practice.
Develop and understand conceptual models, information capabilities/categories, etc. within USAA's information architecture tools and metadata repository/catalog.
Provides insights on the end-to-end data lineage impacts from information capabilities to operational and analytical technical assets (i.e., databases and reports).
Provides key contributions of information capabilities/requirements and communicating to stakeholders the supporting IS&A deliverables for a given domain.
Guides alignment to the USAA Enterprise Information Model (UEIM) for information and data development activities to ensure that the CoSA is following the appropriate CoSA and Enterprise IS&A direction, respectively. Educate and guide Business Partners and other Practitioners on the value and practice of IS&A program for Information Technology.
Guides business efforts by utilizing industry reference models (financial, insurance, etc.) to identify, align and support analytical and operational informational capability requirements to help shape and influence business outcomes.
Collaborates with other architectural practitioners to influence information architecture direction, technical and data flow, and solution agnostic design decisions
Provides guidance to stakeholders to build business cases to secure approval and funding for data and analytical efforts.
Identifies and recommends appropriate data sources to be used in solution development and delivery as it relates to Fit for Purpose and Authoritative Data Source.
Applies knowledge to perform regular assessments of the health and maturity of information capabilities for a given domain.
Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of related information management experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
6 years of experience in information and/or data architecture to include strategy, planning, and delivery oversight; OR If Advanced degree, 4 years' experience in information or data architecture.
Previous experience with modern data architecture environments (Cloud, Hadoop, NoSQL, etc.).
Proven ability to embrace new technologies of the future and operationalize these to deliver value (Data Virtualization, Cloud).
Comprehensive understanding and experience working with data analysis tools and leveraging reporting and data analysis that molds the way user experiences are designed.
Demonstrated experience and ability to apply architectural principles to business solutions.
Exceptional communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the organization; this includes written and verbal communications as well as visualizations.

Expert knowledge of data principles and architectures including enterprise data warehouses and Snowflake
Experience implementing enterprise data and analytics platforms and frameworks
Expert knowledge of retail banking and financial crimes related data across operational and analytical layers
Excellent written and oral communication skills including ability to present ideas, concepts and designs to technical and non-technical teams and leaders
Strong knowledge and experience with data modeling concepts
Strong partnership, collaboration and influence skills and success working in highly matrixed environments
Understanding of advanced analytic (AI / ML) concepts and architectures

What we offer:
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $109,130.00 - $ 208,580.00 .
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
