Job Description

Global Tire Repair is a Division of a $14B multi-industrial manufacturing company, Illinois Tool Works. They are a leading manufacturer, distributor, and marketer of tire repair solutions to global retailers and automotive OEMs Core brands include: Fix-A-FlatR, SlimeR, Genuine InnovationsR, and Terra-SR.

The Accountant will be responsible for driving results by accurately preparing, interpreting and communicating division financial information while adhering to and applying all ITW principles, procedures and internal controls. We are looking for a detail oriented, positive professional with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as a team and individually. Candidate must be a fast learner and be able to balance multiple projects. The candidate must be willing to learn multiple job functions and be detail oriented, have strong problem-solving skills, organizational and data entry skills, and be proficient with diverse computer software systems.

Essential functions include:

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing process

  • Be analytical, inquisitive, and crisp in explaining the story behind the numbers and have a strong ability to understand macro and micro trends and quickly discern inaccuracies

  • Participate in annual business and long-range planning processes including departmental expense budgeting.

  • Manage the accounts payable and account receivable functions, related vendor management, and sales and use tax reporting and compliance

  • Provide support and be a business partner to commercial and operations personnel within the business.

  • Assist and/or lead assigned projects focusing on continuous improvement by applying key 80/20, PLS, and USa principles and techniques. Champion the use of the ITW toolbox.

  • Leverage available tools and new technologies to compile relevant useful information to support process improvements and operational decisions

  • Perform related work as apparent or assigned

Please note: this is not a remote role. This position will be required to be based in San Luis Obispo, CA.

Education:

  • Qualified candidate must possess a Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in Accounting preferred.

Experience:

  • The successful candidate must have three to five years of accounting experience.

  • Audit experience a plus

  • Manufacturing experience a plus

  • Candidate must be a team player with a positive attitude, high motivation, excellent interpersonal skills, and a desire to explore career growth opportunities.

  • Proven track record of leadership, collaboration, strong interpersonal and verbal/written skills, demonstrating a high level of personal accountability, strong coaching skills, effective listening skills, and approachability.

  • Must be willing to learn multiple job functions and be very detailed orientated to perform these functions accurately, have strong problem-solving skills, prioritization, organizational and data entry skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (verbal/written) effectively with customers, suppliers, and all employees as well as an ability to develop positive and productive peer relationships

  • ERP and Financial Reporting software experience preferred.

  • Advanced MS Excel skill
