This Technical Writer position will be part of a dynamic team, working to support Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Dahlgren Division (DD) Dam Neck Activity (DNA) at Virginia Beach, Virginia. Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact towards our military defense and safety of our sailors.
This position is contingent upon your ability to maintain your active Secret level clearance.
Serco supports the acquisition and sustainment of numerous NAVSEA Programs. Our team provides engineering and professional support services across most shipbuilding programs. You will be part of a team that works closely with the customer and other Serco divisions to deliver quality support. Serco has been supporting NAVSEA Programs for over 40 years and has been recognized by the Navy for their outstanding contributions.
In this role, you will:
Develops, edit, and produce technical and graphic documentation for engineering or technology systems.
Types technical narrative and data and transcribing audio to written text. Transform technical information into clear, readable documents.
Writes, rewrite and/or edit technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences.
Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals.
Oversee preparations of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts. Conducts quality review of materials.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Bachelor's degree in electronic, electrical, or mechanical specialization, military technician school or other related field with a minimum of 6 years of technical writing experience.
SECRET security clearance is required.
Experience with technical writing, reviewing and/or editing of technical documentation in business, government, or industry.
Travel may be required up to 10%
