The Role: The Shipping/Receiving clerk performs a variety of routine shipping and receiving tasks. Compares identifying information on incoming or outgoing shipments with purchase orders, invoices, or other documents.
Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:
Sorts, counts, packages, labels, insures, unpacks, and/or logs inventory that is shipped or received.
Records discrepancies or damages and notifies supervisor and/or purchasing personnel.
May trace lost shipments and/or customer claims of lost shipments; initiates proof of delivery documents.
May maintain department database, prepare routine reports, and file shipping/receiving records.
Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities
Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:
High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience
2-3 years prior experience in an industrial warehouse environment
Knowledge of light equipment operation and or maintenance
Knowledge of postal or commercial shipping methods and procedures
Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements
Ability to read, write and perform simple arithmetic
Ability to receive, stock, and/or deliver goods
Ability to receive, track, and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment
Ability to read, sort, check, count, and verify numbers
Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork and maintain records
Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel
