Machine Shop Team Lead - 3rd Shift - IPSD Schertz, TX
Job Summary:
The purpose of this position is to provide day-to-day leadership of the assigned team to ensure the team safely and efficiently performs the activities related to the assembly, logistics, or quality of Caterpillar engines. Team Leaders report to Section Managers and will be assigned to departments within the business to meet customer and company demands in Schertz, Texas.
What you will do:
Ensure that parts and materials used in the assembly process are free from quality defects
Assist other departments with problem solving or improvement ideas related to assembly
Provide leadership and assist with the training of Machine Operators
Verifying correct alignment of components using electrical schematics and part prints
Inspect parts and materials to ensure they are free from quality defects
Perform audits and carry out quality inspections to correct known defects
Perform tool & torque audits, leak tests, and visual inspection on all engines
Ensure standard work is followed within the team
Aligning and installing gaskets, seals, bearings, hoses, covers, and visual components
Ability to fill any position and complete any task within assigned team
Operate forklifts and tuggers to move materials within the facility
Submit and assist with the resolution of C.P.S. Continuous Improvement cards
What you will have:
Advanced proficiency (Advanced skills/knowledge. Capable of functioning independently) using Standard Assembly tools (torque wrenches, pneumatic tools, etc.) and their applications.
1 year manufacturing & supervisory experience
Experience working with lean manufacturing principles such as following standard work, continuous improvement, eliminating process waste, and 5S
Advanced level of proficiency working with Standard Operating Procedures or Standard Work
Capable of working independently
Basic computer skills such as operating a computer in a Windows based environment
Ability to read/write and interpret documents
Experience working in a team-based environment
Physical Requirements ** (with or without reasonable accommodation):
Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods
Ability to perform repetitive operations
Ability to lift to 35 lbs.
