The Resource Industries segment at Caterpillar is seeking a Risk & Compliance Professional with an accounting background to provide support for the Resource Industries business partners. Compliance support includes Controls (documentation, testing, SOX support, & Control Board reporting), Compliance Councils, Audit Issue Sharing, various Lean projects and process enhancements.
Resource Industries is a dynamic global division consisting of a portfolio of prime products, components, and services that meet the needs of clients and customers through manufacturing, engineering, design, commercial, and support teams located globally.
This position will be accountable for contributing to the identification, analysis and resolution of needs and problems in a discipline for which the incumbent is beginning to build a reputation as an expert. This position performs complex analysis work, identifies and mitigates problems.
The Risk and Compliance Professional (Sr Staff Accountant) will have a comprehensive understanding of Caterpillar's business and accounting practices, systems and procedures. They will demonstrate knowledge and ability to handle accounting issues independently. This role will be exposed to a variety of accounting functions and will accomplish a high level of complex and/or technical analysis, analyze various outputs, advise others (both accountants and non-accountants), resolve issues and communicate these outcomes. Works on challenging, medium to high-risk issues and makes decisions and recommendations as appropriate.
This position manages their own development, continuously learning through experience and staying abreast of technology and regulations. Key skills to be developed at this level are data extraction/analysis, failure analysis and problem solving, application of simulation tools and methods, and practical application of theory and concepts.
Possible areas of responsibility and support include:
Development and maintenance of internal controls, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) control documentation
Provide strong leadership and independence in reviewing findings, monitors and validates action plans, and ensures sustainable solutions are implemented.
Support Compliance activities and Inventory counting services.
SOX testing and audits (internal & external) including outsourced accounting activities
Support Compliance Councils with participation from Facility top management team.
Monitors compliance performance and recommends priorities and actions for improvement.
Collaborates with employees and supervisors to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
Performs compliance assessments and supports compliance audits.
Basic Requirements:
4 year degree preferably in Accounting
4-6 years of job related experience

Have a comprehensive knowledge of Caterpillar businesses, products, suppliers and customers
Knowledge of local statutory accounting, currency, and tax and trade controls
Initiative, leadership, good judgment and accountability
