Serco is looking for a highly motivated individual with a technical/engineering background to join our Maritime Engineering, Technology and Sustainment (METS) team as a Lead Engineer supportingNaval Sea Systems Command at Naval Base Ventura County Port Hueneme CA.
This position is contingent upon your ability to maintain your active Secret level DoD clearance.
The ideal candidate will assist in the development of the Autonomous Maritime System (AMS) schedules and work priorities. Plans, implements, and tracks the progress ofUnmanned Surface Vessel (USV) program. Perform with limited supervision/direction and regularly exercise discretionary and decision-making authority.
You will have the opportunity to shape software development pipelines on a Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) program onsiteNaval Base Ventura County Port Hueneme Ca. The Lead Engineer will be responsible for engineering plans; technology maturation strategies; mission analyses; systems engineering and integration reviews; technical risk mitigation; joint requirements development; and inform acquisition milestones and modernization decisions.You will work with a team of technicians, and engineers supporting RDT&E projects conducting test to including electrical, mechanical and software engineering, for system development, man and machine interface development, test and evaluation, requirements capture, production, maintenance, and system support.
You will be part of a team responsible for highly consequential engagements with stakeholders impacting national security and the defense capabilities of the United States. You will work closely with customers and other Serco teams to deliver quality solutions recognized by DoD and industry as outstanding contributions in engineering program and risk management across the Defense enterprise.
In this role, you will:
Developing System Engineering plans for integration and R&D. Provide USV, autonomous systems, and Maritime Subject Matter
Expertise for R&Dand OT&E.
Analyze unmanned vehicle (USV) system designs, specifications, and technical data to determine whether various systems are ready for developmental/operational testing.
Analyze results from USV systems and capabilities under test/evaluation to ensure performance successfully meets engineering specifications and operational requirements.
Investigate system failures, evaluate corrective alternatives and implement actions to ensure USV systems maintain safe, effective operations and minimize/eliminate potential future system failures.
Develop technical/logistics documentation in support of USV operations, training and sustainment, including user manuals, training guides and system maintenance manuals.
Develop concept of operations (CONOPS) and standard operating procedures (SOP) documentation for USV operations, tactics, doctrine and vehicle deployment
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant Engineering disciplate with a minimum of 5 years of System Engineering experience.
An active Secret clearance is required prior to employment.
10+ years of relevant experience supporting DoD/USCG programs
Substantial experience providing technical leadership and technical management of engineering personnel
Experience with Ship and Ship Systems in-service engineering activities
Experience with Control Systems and Autonomy
Experience working with DoD/USCG technical communities.
Additional desired experience and skills:
Experience working with U. S. Navy Ocean Systems engineering and safety procedures
Experience and working knowledge of U. S. Navy Weapon Systems, including compliance standards and applicable regulations
Unmanned Systems operational knowledge
Knowledge and experience following Systems Engineering standards, procedures, and best practices
Ability to work effectively in both independent and team environments
Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, and at all levels of sponsor/customer/corporate organizations
Knowledge and experience using Microso Office products, such as MSWord, Excel and PowerPoint.
Active TS/SCI clearance or eligibility
