Role Definition
The US Drivetrain facilities within Caterpillar's Large Power Systems Division produce world-class drivetrain components and assemblies for global Caterpillar machine plants, aftermarket parts, and OEMs. The US Drivetrain facility in East Peoria, IL, has an exciting career opportunity as a Group Manager in Assembly Operations. This is a key operations leadership role reporting to the Factory Manager and sets the direction for multiple operations value streams regarding People & Safety, Quality, Velocity, and Cost. This role will also lead activities and resources devoted to Lean Deployment at US Drivetrain.
Responsibilities
Directly supervise operations Production Managers and potentially other Senior Production Managers and support resources and coach/manage performance accordingly. Rollup includes bargained hourly workforce and could include supplemental and contract resources.
Instill a zero-injury mindset and execute the Caterpillar Safety Driven strategy. Be present on the shop floor and utilize observation with a risk-focus to proactively improve the work environment.
Create a culture of continuous improvement utilizing LEAN principles, especially Gemba and Kaizen
Be a recognized facility Leader in LEAN, including coaching outside of areas within your direct control.
Assess manpower and resource needs partnering with Supply Chain and the S&OP process.
Pursue zero defect processes and culture partnering with multiple functional areas.
Develop rock-solid relationships with functional areas such as Quality, Mfg Eng, Supply Chain, Product Engineering, HR, and Accounting to leverage high engagement in the business to drive improvements.
Install simple and efficient visual management systems and governance to ensure team clarity on expectations, progress, and definition of success.
Lead problem solving forums (Sort Teams) utilizing Built-in-Quality (BIQ) and Right Part Right Time (RPRT) and coach team members on deep problem solving.
Establish detailed development plans and career planning for direct reports.
Drive daily PQVC execution to achieve bold targets and help optimize production schedule and resources for maximum efficiency.
Support Caterpillar Quality Management System (CQMS) and execute assigned functions.
Execute workstation and employee cross-functional training to improve flexibility and cost.
Degree Requirement
Bachelor's Degree OR minimum of 8 years highly relevant manufacturing experience (Manufacturing, Supply Chain/Purchasing, Engineering, Quality) in lieu of degree is desired.

Quality Management: Level Extensive Experience
Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.
Manufacturing Operations: Level Extensive Experience
Knowledge of manufacturing operations; ability to perform day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant or facility for products.
Manufacturing Safety: Level Extensive Experience
Knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment and site.
Planning and Organizing: Level Extensive Experience
Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.
Performance Management: Level Working Knowledge
Knowledge of successful performance management techniques; ability to apply organization's performance management system, practices, and tools to developing and improving individual, team, and organizational performance.

Lean Deployment/Lean Leadership experience
Experience leading other Supervisors
Cross-functional experience and multi-facility/product experience
6 Sigma, Program Management, and Caterpillar Production System (CPS) experience
Experience in manufacturing low-volume, high-mix, high-complexity, high-value product
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, including Lean tools & techniques
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
