Land Engineering Coordinator

Please Note: The position is located at GA Power HQ in Atlanta, GA & you will be required to be ONSITE a minimum of three (3) days per week or 12 days per month and/or as additionally required.

Relocation assistance may be provided if needed and if you qualify.

Participation on storm evaluation and restoration teams (if necessary) may also be required.

JOB SUMMARY

The land engineering coordinator organizes and assigns project tasks and serves as the main point of contact for Land Engineering clients. The land engineering coordinator will be assigned multiple clients and will facilitate associated scopes of work in a timely and cost-effective manner. Land engineering coordinators will work together to balance the workloads of the Land Engineering production staff and track project schedules. The land engineering coordinator will also transfer valuable job knowledge to other staff to maintain adequate land engineering bench strength.

JOB REQUIREMENTS ( Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills )

  • 4-year college degree in civil engineering, surveying, real estate, or related field; or have obtained a PE or LS; or have a minimum of 5 years of qualifying experience in engineering, surveying, real estate, or related field. (Preference will be given to a 4-year college degree)

  • PE, EIT, LS or LSIT preferred.

  • Experience with Primavera, CADD (computer aided drafting and design), GIS (geographic information systems), and TEAMS or equivalent scheduling and estimating software preferred.

  • Experience with project scheduling and tracking.

  • Experience with transmission line design or modeling software (Plscadd) preferred.

  • Experience with substation design preferred.

  • Ability to manage time, prioritize competing deadlines, and execute multiple scopes of work simultaneously.

  • Demonstrates team collaboration skills and professionalism in challenging situations.

  • Ability to apply project management skills, such as initiating work, developing plans, monitoring, managing expectations, and communicating status to execute land engineering projects.

  • Capacity to identify team training and development needs.

  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal).

  • Capacity to establish, develop, and sustain team and client relationships.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES ( Major responsibilities of the job, no more than 8)

  • Coordinate multiple Land Engineering projects.

  • Develop and maintain relationship across multiple groups and disciplines.

  • Provide first line support, work direction and daily assignment to Land Engineering production staff, both company and contract personnel.

  • Maintain client contact and attend project meetings; provide technical expertise to Land Engineering clients, understand the scope of work, and ensure that project schedules and budgets are met.

  • Coordinate engineering, surveying, and mapping project quality control to ensure that expectations are met and that all applicable state, federal and industry standards are met.

  • Review Land Engineering standards periodically to ensure compliance with all applicable state, federal and industry standards.

  • Provide knowledge transfer to Land Engineering production staff to improve the bench strength of the organization and to ensure that projects are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner.

  • Coordinate field surveying and mapping activities to ensure that project survey requirements are met in a manner consistent with schedules and all applicable standards.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP ( Manager, peer, subordinate jobs -- organization structure, organization chart may be attached)

The Land Engineering Coordinator will report to the Land Engineering Supervisor or Land Engineering Manager. The Land Engineering Coordinator has no direct reports.

  • Participation on storm evaluation and restoration teams (if necessary).

This position has been identified as a role that will require the use of a Georgia Power fleet vehicle. The following will be required if you are selected for this position:*

  • Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience (Must hold a valid driver's license for the class vehicle to be operated. Driving permits are not typically considered a valid driver's license).

  • Must have no revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application, no convictions of major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the 12 months prior to application, or any pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application.

  • Must consent to a continuous monitoring of your Motor Vehicle Record
