As a Business Development Manager for CAT Defense in Dallas, Texas, you will lead the planning, implementation and administration of all aspects related to Caterpillar Defense Business Development.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Leads a diverse team of Business Development and Marketing Managers focused on identifying growth opportunities, expanding market reach, and fostering strategic partnerships or alliances.
Takes a broad strategic perspective, focusing on overall business expansion and finding new revenue streams that are reflected in a robust pipeline that supports Operating Profit After Capital Charge (OPAAC) targets and initiatives.
Creates and delivers plans to develop long-term business growth by exploring new markets, generating leads, and building relationships. Also, analyzes market trends, identifies emerging markets, and develops strategies to capitalize on growth opportunities. Often engages directly in market research, lead generation, networking, and negotiation.
Additionally, the incumbent supports the development and execution of a strategic account plans and campaigns that include customer call plans and key interfaces with Government officials. Supports, in conjunction with Global Corporate Affairs, any engagement activities with Congressional Staff members to educate them on specific program requests and Defense offerings.
Responsible for identifying potential clients, exploring new business opportunities, and initiating partnerships. Emphasizes the building and nurturing relationships with potential clients, partners, and stakeholders to foster trust and collaboration.
Owns and manages the pipeline and customer relationships for all major pursuits from identification to qualification, shaping and award. This position is a key coordination point for all business pipeline opportunities and will ensure all market segments growth are reflected in the pipeline. This includes responding to solicitations, coordinating solution offerings for both US and International offerings, and collaborating with the sales team, program management, engineering, business resources, legal and contracting.
Responsible for executing and improving pipeline governance. Ensures appropriate opportunity reviews are held, supports commercial excellence, pipeline funnel management, department budgeting, tracks, and reports on pipeline performance metrics, ensures alignment with business planning, reporting and support to Product Group OPACC initiatives oversight and execution.
Oversees the development of sound win and pricing strategies for targets within the business development portfolio. Collaborates with Sales team to identify resources to close on capture and proposal requirements through proposal delivery. Supports the transition of proposal awards to successful program execution.
Directs all marketing aspects of the business to include marketing materials, outreach, and tradeshows in coordination with their Marketing Manager and Marketing team.
This role leads project initiatives to review and validate our existing business development models. This position helps execute annual business plan and is also responsible for performing other job duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time to time.
Frequent travel required: up to 50%
Basic Qualifications:
10 years combined government and/or industry experience with relevant business development background for federal acquisitions.
Incumbent must have outstanding communication and teaming skills and the demonstrated ability to get results through people.
Demonstrated negotiation skills, research and strategy, business intelligence, and networking.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
A college degree in Marketing, Business or Engineering is strongly desired.
Experience in the military or defense industry is desirable.
Certifications or experience with Shipley or APMP desirable.
