Caterpillar's world class supply chain is a critical strategic advantage that enables us to maintain an edge in the industries and markets we serve. To aid in maintaining this leadership position, we have established the Strategy & Planning team within the Strategic Procurement & Planning Division (SPPD) where we can best leverage this advantage.

Job Duties

In this role, you will

- Lead multiple projects to support Enterprise-wide Category procurement teams, initially focusing on resolving organizational complexities and establishing sourcing philosophies to enable Caterpillar to flow sourcing workload to the correct direct category buyer - get the right part to the right team

- Collaborate with purchasing verticals and leadership to design the next generation buyer assignment logic to meet business needs while driving simplification and clarity for teams (output = agreed upon scope and rules to flow work)

- Use detailed data analytics tools to understand the impact of possible changes and create recommendations based on facts & data

- Gain approval from Procurement VPs and create implementation plans that impact teams around the world

- Create & execute robust change management plans to roll out decisions and see your work help the impacted teams

- Integrate with our digital team to design permanent desktop tools to support new standard work

- Example Projects:

-Clarify noncurrent part ownership & create rules using data attributes to drive work to the correct team

-Resolve scenarios where teams are not organized per SPC (Strategic Planning Committee) guidelines - where can we standardize and where do we need an ongoing and agreed upon exception

-Determine the category support strategy for topics such as Serviceable Components, Kits, non-traditional procurement groups, and other one-off exceptions or current grief situations

Basic Qualifications

- At least 10 years of practical experience serving in supply chain, procurement or closely aligned product or engineering roles that contribute to a strong understanding of supply chain or procurement

- At least 3 years of Caterpillar direct procurement experience

- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and drive alignment with peers and vertical purchasing organizations

- Demonstrated exceptional verbal and written communication skills including the ability to create and present to Upper Management

- Ability to lead without authority; Facilitation skills demonstrated through your ability to manage projects, lead discussions and guide teams though change for high impact initiatives

- Demonstrated ability to analyze data and use data to build creative solutions through strategic thinking

Top Candidates will also have

- Previous 6 Sigma Black Belt for formal Project Management experience preferred

- Knowledge of Caterpillar category team structures or current workload management methods or tools

- General understanding of how parts are released and assigned to category buyers today

- Ability to understand the big picture, simplify a message, and execute implementation plans at detailed level

The location for this position is Mossville, IL or Dallas, TX-- however open to considering other Caterpillar facilities within the U.S. (candidate's permanent address must be within a 50-mile driving distance to a Caterpillar facility).
