Southern Nuclear Company is looking for a highly motivated individual to work as a project cost control/forensic accounting analyst in the Dry Cask Storage department. Job duties involve building monthly reports to be used in litigation efforts supporting ongoing cost recovery with the Department of Energy, while also providing general oversight for cost management and control of other capital projects that are selected for cost tracking. These responsibilities will involve cross-functional teamwork with personnel from the plant sites, project managers, cost estimators, financial, and others.
This position also supports the entire Fleet Outage Services organization with monthly cost support. This individual works with SNC internal project managers, financial services, legal counsel and site project teams to gather and document monthly transaction details ensuring timesheets, records, invoices and other charges are coded correctly.
The ideal candidate will have project cost controls and/or forensic accounting background and will have Oracle accounting support software experience with ability to pull financial data, analyze and document. A knowledge of, or ability to learn, high level Primavera P6 scheduling software is desired to audit upcoming work orders for correct cost structure and manpower loading.
Below are some of the duties to be performed by the individual filling this role:
Provide extensive oversight to ensure consistency within the Project Controls organization for all cost analyst functions.
Be proficient in the use of PowerPlan, MAXIMO, ORACLE and other cost and commitment systems at SNC.
Work closely with the Cost Estimating and Scheduling Leads in the development of project cash flows from project cost estimates and schedules.
Coordinate with the Project Scheduling Lead to ensure that the cost projections for all projects are properly aligned and reflect the activities identified in the project schedule to support EVM.
Establish processes and guidelines, as well as provide oversight for the following activities:
Assigning cost codes to all PO commitments & expenditures
Monitoring all project commitments & expenditures for correctness of cost coding
Interfacing with Financial & Business Operations to correct errors in the commitment or payment process and insure accuracy in the cost system
Tracking craft labor and site related project expenses
Monthly cost reporting and analysis
Scope monitoring to ensure they are properly forecasted and reported
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education Requirements:
Bachelor degree in a technical or business field is preferred
AACE Certified Cost Consultant is preferred
Accounting, Finance or Construction management degree desired
Background/Experience Requirements:
Experience in cost management/control of EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) projects is preferred
Experience as a Cost Analyst w/ detailed use of work breakdown, EVM and cost codes is preferred
Experience with contract administration and computer-based job costing is preferred
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Knowledge/Skills & Abilities:
Ability to facilitate and manage data inputs and changes across multiple organizations
Ability to motivate a group toward a shared goal
Ability to communicate ideas in both a technical and user-friendly language
Knowledge of Work Management System and supporting systems
Knowledge of cost, estimating and scheduling techniques, methods and procedures
Knowledge of Oracle ERS and ability to run reports (preferred)
Knowledge of Primervera P6 (preferred)
Ad hoc report writing skills using MRS (Microsoft Reporting System), Crystal, or other report writing tools (preferred)
Knowledge of PowerPlan (preferred)
Excellent analytical, mathematical and creative problem-solving skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills required
Excellent listening and interpersonal skills
Personal ownership and initiative
Knowledge of dry cask or spent fuel systems a plus
