What We're Looking For
Responsible for leading the development and execution of the project management plan while building and maintaining effective and meaningful client relationships. This position serves as the primary client liaison responsible for managing and delivering all aspects of one or more mega ($5M+) and/or super mega ($25M+) projects including contracting, project controls, quality, risk and change management. The Project Director implements the firm's project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project.
Responsible for developing, directing, and growing safety practice group in Ohio. Directs project pursuits, project priorities, and staff recruitment to ensure clients are provided the best capabilities to meet their needs. Accountability includes timely and satisfactory completion of projects, assuring satisfactory client service, project plans, objectives setting, performance evaluation, and related management activities. Also responsible to marketing to strategic clients, including maintaining and developing client relationships. Must have an in-depth knowledge of current practices, procedures and priorities related to major Ohio transportation and infrastructure organizations.
Essential Responsibilities:
Responsible for direction and supervision of the development, monitoring, and management of the operating budgets for the Group and coordination with the office's budget.
Responsible for the oversight of the group (multiple departments) activities, establish priorities, and assign staff to projects. Collaborate with other groups, offices, and divisions on work-sharing needs and opportunities.
Drives the implementation of the firm's strategic plan and HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA) process on project pursuits and markets with the Group and office, including development of strategic planning strategies.
Drives the implementation of the firm's contracting HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA) process through project delivery and contracting activities including scope, work plan, and fee reviews for all contracting activities impacting the group.
Drives the implementation of the firm's project delivery HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) process including Work Planning, Monthly Project Reviews, and other project performance methods to ensure quality work, on time, on schedule, to the client's satisfaction.
Assists in marketing responsibilities, including client discovery, proposal generation, interviews, and win-to-work activities.
Maintains client contacts to ensure client satisfaction. Leads and assists in sales and marketing efforts for department's growth.
Assists in the development and execution of the office strategic plan. May participate on the Office Leadership Team (OLT.)
Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, development, and retention of department staff within the group, including the development of plans for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession planning.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Master's degree
20 years relevant experience
Professional Engineer (PE) certification
American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification
Project Management Professional (PMP)
What You'll Need
Essential Responsibilities:
Develops and nurtures key client relationships and is the primary company contact on assigned projects. Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions and strategies.
Responsible for financial performance on projects. Proactive management of cash, budget, schedule and project scope to ensure adherence to project goals and completion to the client's satisfaction.
Sets priorities, obtains commitments, and engages required resources through collaboration with Group Directors, Department Managers and/or Section Managers to staff projects according to the project Work Plan.
Collaborates with office and division leadership in solving challenges and ensuring business objectives are met.
Supervises and mentors' team to achieve overall project objectives. Where appropriate, oversees the project's Project Manager(s). Responsible for/oversees project staffing, including, but not limited to; recruitment, hiring, development, retention and succession of project staff; development of plan for project staff reporting; and support for performance and compensation reviews.
Leads pursuits of mega projects and/or actively involved as part of the pursuit team for super mega projects. Partners with Client Service Leaders to develop long term strategies to identify and pursue additional business opportunities with key clients and with pursuit champions on efforts for mega and super mega projects in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA). Works with the pursuit team and marketing resources to prepare appropriate proposal and presentation materials. Leads interview and proposal presentations to the client as well as general presentations within the industry.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in relevant field and 12 years of relevant experience
4 years experience successfully managing and delivering mega and/or super mega projects
